• StarCraft II is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game trilogy under development by Blizzard Entertainment as a sequel to 1998's StarCraft. Developed for concurrent release on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X, the initial offering will be followed by two expansion packs respectively entitled "Wings of Liberty," "Heart of the Swarm" and "Legacy of the Void." Each game in the trilogy is expected to contain one 26-30 mission campaign centered around a single race. The Terrans will be the focus of the initial offering, followed up by Zerg and Protoss races in the expansions.

• StarCraft 2 Release Date

  StarCraft 2 does not yet have a scheduled release date. There is only a small possibility of release in Dec 2009. StarCraft 2 is likely to be pushed out to mid-2010.

  Blizzard has a sure hit with StarCraft 2, provided it's released when it's ready. Therefore, the game will need to be nearly perfect before they release it. Of course, there's little solace for those avid StarCraft gamers ready to get their hands on it!
