Roak
- This is a continuation of the walkthrough for Roak.
Cave to the Purgatorium
- Monsters Encountered: Corpse Bat, Skeleton Armor, Vomiting Gel
- Harvest Items: Caterpillar Fungus, Ebony, Magic Seeds, Fresh Sage, Poison Hemlock, White Rice
- Mining Items: Coal, Shadestone, Silver, Sylphstone, Thunder Gem
- You'll encounter two new enemies here - the Corpse Bat and Vomiting Gel. They're just stronger versions of enemies you already encountered in Urd Falls Cave. Head west to wind up near Tropp, past the quicksand.
- If you head to the forest south of Tropp, you'll find a bunny in case you need to get back quickly. If you head north of the cave, you'll enter the Purgatorium area - you won't advance the story without entering the building, so collect the available items and check the Mining and Harvest Points.
- When you finish, head to Tropp.
Tropp
- Be sure to pickpocket the Shadestone and the Disintegration Stone from the Tough-Talking Girl and Eleyna, respectively. Meeting Eleyna is a story element, so don't go looking for her during the first visit to Tropp.
- Talk to Chaz by the docks to the west to continue the Missing Brother quest, and then head to the inn and talk to the Pathologically Petulant Woman to update your progress on The Shoddy Doll quest.
- Head to the weapon shop to find new weapons for Meracle and Lymle, and the Out-of_Work Sailor that can sell you the Famous Grape Juice needed for the Crazy Fruit Juice quest.
- Activate an unmarked quest by talking to the Curious Youth, near the entrance to Tropp. You'll obtain an Empty Bucket - do not talk to him twice when you still have the Note from Fez; he'll eat the note, which messes up the sequence of the quest, and you'll have to return to Tatroi and get another note from Fez.
- Grab a bunny to the south of town and return to the Astral Desert. Fill the bucket with water from the oasis and water the cacti marked in the map in order, from C1 to C5.
- Each cactus takes a bucket of water, so head back and forth from the oasis to fill the bucket. For doing this, you will not receive any achievements, but you will receive Potent Attack Seed, Intelligence Seeds, Potent Health Seeds, and Magic Seeds.
- Convert is a great skill when you get it maxed out and partner it with Auto-Healing. It saves you restorative items and lets you maximize fighting capabilities of every character - it's recommended to teach it to everyone that can learn it.
- You can start three side quests here, but you can only complete some of them until later on.

Tropp Side Quests
- These side quests can be activated in Tropp, though some of them can't be completed until later on.
Grooming of Essential
- Talk to the Haughty Girl(she's speaking to the Tough-Talking Girl). She'll request a comb for you - you'll need to invent it, the Feathered Comb.
- Have Meracle, Myuria and Lymle work together to invent the Feathered Comb, then create it using IC and deliver the comb to the Haughty girl to receive 2000 EXP, 36 PSP, and Recipe Memo 22 (Anti-Fog Amulet).
A Symbol of Bravery
- Talk to the Tough-Talking Girl, and she'll request a Purgatorium Stone that can be found inside the Purgatorium - it appears as a sparkling item.
- You'll find the Purgatorium Stone after you go upstairs from the entrance to the Purgatorium. Give it to the Tough-Talking Girl to receive 100 EXP, 40 PSP, and the Scumbag Slayer.
The Second Doll
- This quest starts after you deliver the Wooden Doll, which was part of the Shoddy Doll side quest, to the Pathologically Petulant WOman in the inn. Head back to the Shadowy Dollmaker in Tatroi and complete the first quest, and activate the In Search of Anessa side quest.
- After completing the In Search of Anessa side quest, exit Tatroi area and enter again, then talk to the the dollmaker to receive the Exquisite Wooden Doll. Deliver it to the Pathologically Petulant Woman to receive 1000 EXP, 46 PSP, and Magical Clay X2.
Purgatorium Area
- Monsters Encountered: Harpy, Mandragora, Spirit Priest, Sydonais Alpha, Sydonais Beta, Thieving Scumbag
- Harvest Items: Lemon, Poison Hemlock, Ripe Berries, Seasonings, Thornberries, White Rice
- Mining Items: Aluminum, Iron, Light Gem, Shadestone, Thunder Gem
- Enter the Purgatorium Area and watch the cutscenes. You'll discover that you can't go any further in the cave, and the party will decide to meet up with Eleyna. Loot the three chests that you can reach, as one of them contains the Steal skill. Teach Steal to Meracle.
- If you activated the A Symbol of Bravery quest earlier, there will be a sparkling item on the left side of the stairs - grab it to obtain the Purgatorium Stone, then travel back to Tropp after collecting all the items lying around.
Tropp II
- After you reach Tropp, you'll have another cutscene take place. After it's over, rest in the inn and save your game - don't forget to deliver the Purgatorium Stone to finish the side quest.
- Head to the northeast corner of Tropp and examine the door to Eleyna's house, which triggers another long cutscene. After Eleyna faints, examine her body to collect the data on her Maiden's Staff - this is the only chance you get to collect it. You can also pickpocket a Disintegration Stone from her.
- Wake her up to proceed with the story - talk to Reimi, then Faize, and then Reimi again. Watch the cutscenes, and you'll obtain the Lamp of GUidance in the process.
- You'll meet Myuria after exiting - she'll join your party permanently this time. Head back to Tropp to teach her skills and equip her with accessories. She's a spare Symbologist for your party, and can learn the Demonology skill, which is useful in getting more items from the upcoming battles.
- You'll be heading to the Purgatorium, but it's recommended you head to the Calnus first to create new items, recipes, and trigger a PA between Bacchus, Edge, and Myuria. Also, head to Tatroi and buy 20 Empty Bottles if you don't already have that many - you need them for the recipes Myuria helps create.
The Calnus
- Use Myuria's Compounding skill by grouping her with your other characters. Max her IC skill, and you'll be able to make new potions, including Pumpkin Cider(five of these are required for a delivery). You can also make Love Potion #256, which boosts affinities between characters.
- If you've managed to collect Aluminum and PLatinum, and have stocked up on fibers from Tatroi's material shop, you'll be able to make new weapons for Reimi, Faize, and Lymle, and new coats and light armors for your female characters. Make the Traveler's Cloak - it's needed for a side quest later.
- The PA can be triggered in the Crew's Quarters, in Bacchus' room. Talk to him to watch the conversation, then rest and head back to the Purgatorium - you can also pickpocket a Green Beryl from Myuria if you want one.
The Purgatorium
- Monsters Encountered: Corpse Bat, Fire Corpse, Mage Chimera, Spirit Priest, Succubus, Sydonaist Alpha, Sydonaist Beta
1F
- You can't open the chests in the northwest corner until you get the Light Ring, so ignore them for now. Examine the unlit pot near the multi-colored wall - the pot ignites, and a secret path will open. Head through.
- Be wary of the Succubus - their presence alone boosts the stats of other monsters in the area, so defeat them first if possible.
B1
- You'll encounter a puzzle here - in the second room to the west, there are four unlit pots and a statue holding a lit halberd. You need to light the pot the statue is pointing the halberd at - after doing so, it will rotate to point at another pot. Keep doing this until you light all four pots.
- Light the pots to open new paths and create stairways. You'll continue doing this throughout the dungeon - in the instance that there are two statues, make sure you light the pot that both statues are pointing at. Since you don't have the Light Ring, make your way to the boss' location - use a Tent if you're low on HP/MP.
- There's only one save point in the Purgatorium, which is in B4, so be wary about fighting the boss.
BOSS FIGHT: Guardian Beast
- HP: 55733
- Resists: Light
- Weak: Water, Fire, Thunder, Dark
- EXP: 5940
- Fol: 4626
- Drops: Lezard's Flask
- If you've been working on getting 100% analysis on the enemies you've encountered so far, this fight won't be as difficult - if you rushed here, however, it might take a while. Exploit the boss' weaknesses to Water, Fire, Thunder, and Dark elements by using Symbol attacks and Special attacks.
- When Guardian Beast enters Rush Mode, switch characters and use Rush Combos when you can. Keep everyone's HP at 70% or better, and you'll prevail. After this battle, you'll receive the Lezard's Flask and the Light Ring - you need the Light Ring to get past the Dark barriers that are blocking the chests.
- The Light Ring is fully charged when you obtain it, but it can only carry one charge at a time - the light crystals scattered throughout the Purgatorium work as charging stations for it. You can only extract a charge from the crystals once per crystal, so plan ahead if you want to get everything in one trip. If you leave the Purgatorium and re-enter, the light crystals will be recharged.
B1 Continued
- After defeating the Guardian Beast, you'll want to head back and continue collecting the items from the treasure chests that were previously inaccessible. The ones worthy of mention are the Bow of Wisdom and a chest containing a lot of rare IC items.
- Skip the chest protected by an Ivy barrier for now, since you still can't get past it. Cleansing a Dark barrier is still worth 400 EXP, so you may want to go ahead and destroy the Dark barrier anyway. Head to B2 when you're through.
B2
- There are eight unlit pots that need to be lit i order, and four statues that point towards the pot that needs lighting. You can rotate your camera to make sure each statue is pointing at a pot before lighting it, or follow these directions, using your mini-map for orientation:
- Light the pot below the upper right statue, then light the pot below the lower left statue.
- Light the northern pot in the middle of the area, then light the pot just above the lower left statue.
- Light the pot below the lower right statue, then light the southern pot in the middle of the area.
- Light the final pot, below the upper left statue.
- After you solve the puzzle, staircases will appear that allow access to a crystal. Grab the items here and head to the room leading to the next floor - a cutscene takes place as you approach the door that explains what happened to the Black Tribe.
B3
- You'll need to light another eight pots here, but some of them are located in the north, south, and northwest corridors. Follow these directions, using your mini-map for orientation:
- Light the pot in the lower left of the main middle area first, then light the pot due north of the statue.
- Head to the southern corridor that runs horizontally from left to right, and light the pot there.
- Light the pot due east of the statue, then head to the northern corridor and light the pot that's as far left as you can go.
- Light the pot in the lower right of the main middle area, then return to the north corridor and light the pot that's as far right as you can go.
- Light the pot due west of the statue to complete the puzzle, which will drain the water from the room and allow you to reach the recovery point, a chest, and a crystal. Use the recovery point and equip Bacchus with his new weapon, then take the western stairs to reach B4.
B4
- Use the save point available here and prepare for the upcoming boss fight by boosting any skills that need it and making sure everyone has their best equipment and skills equipped. Enter the door, watch the cutscenes, and get ready to beat up an ugly individual named Tamiel.
BOSS FIGHT: Tamiel
- HP: 59099
- Resists: Fire, Dark
- Weak: Water, Thunder
- EXP: 4778
- Fol: 14129
- Drops: Fanatic's Staff
- As soon as the fight starts, you get ambushed by two waves of common enemies - Tamiel will appear on the third wave. He's weak against air combos and juggles, stun hits and critical hits, and sometimes summons Sydonaists to pester you.
- Be as aggressive as you can be, and make sure at least one of your characters has Convert and Auto-Healing on to negate the need to worry about your HP and MP.
- When Tamiel gets close to death, he'll use a special attack in the form of an energy beam that shoots from his head - try to attack him with a melee fighter from behind after he fires the laser beam, and crush him with Rush Combos to end the fight quickly.
- After you defeat Tamiel, you'll receive the Fanatic's Staff and get a few cutscenes. If you still need to get 100% analysis on any enemies here, do it on B3 where the restoration point is. Exit the Purgatorium and watch the cutscenes, and you'll get a notice from Welch to return to the Calnus.
- There are some side quests you might want to complete before heading back to the Calnus, so head to Tropp to start them - charge your Light Ring before leaving the Purgatorium.
Tropp Side Quests Continued
- These side quests can be activated after defeating Tamiel in the Purgatorium.
Ruddle Strikes Again
- After you complete Mapless Traveler, leave Tropp and re-enter. Talk to Ruddle at the docks again to learn that he's lost the map you gave him, and needs another one. He'll head to Tatroi and set up a shop there after you defeat the Sand Bird twice.
- After completing this quest, you'll earn 456 EXP and 38 PSP.
Rebound Queen
- After you complete the Otherwordly Diet quest, you can access this one a few hours later. She'll request a Pasta Bolognese, which you can learn from Recipe Memo 07.
- Recipe Memo 07 is given by Lutea's mother in Woodley Village on Lemuris, and the ingredients are available on Tatroi. Complete this quest to earn 1100 EXP and 52 PSP.
Whodunit?
- Go to the inn in Tropp and talk to the woman that gave you the Second Doll quest - instead of being known as the Pathologically Petulant Woman, she's now the Absolutely Hysterical Woman. She'll inform you that her Gorgeous Gem has been stolen.
- The thief is in Tatroi, in the Twin Books store, wearing cultist garb. Pickpocket the gem from him and give it to the Absolutely Hysterical Woman to earn 1300 EXP and 39 PSP.
Desert Dilemma
- Chat with the Retired Explorer, by the Tropp weapon shop. You need to fight the Sand Bird in Astral Desert, near the oasis - it's the only unique monster roaming the desert, so it's easy to spot.
- Use long-range attacks and Symbols to defeat the bird - it can break your Bonus Board without much effort, so stay on your toes and switch characters as often as necessary.
- After you defeat the Sand Bird, the quicksands should disappear. Head back to Tropp and talk to the Retired Explorer again to gain 600 EXP and 40 PSP - he'll set out on his way to Tatroi as well. If you head back to the desert, you'll notice the quicksands are active again...
The Sand Bird Strikes Back
- ...which leads us here. After you complete Desert Dilemma, head back to the Astral Desert and find the old man by the oasis - talk to him to trigger this quest. The Sand Bird will be in the same area as last time - defeat it again to complete the quest.
- Talk to the old man again, who's now in the Tatroi Inn, to gain 1200 EXP, 50 PSP, and the Ocarina Skill Manual.
- Completing this quest also allows you to fully complete the Missing Brother quest. Head to the Twin Books store and talk to Chaz's brother to complete that quest as well. Chaz opens his own counter to sell skill manuals, and Ruddle will set up a shop near the inn.

No Way Home
- Once you get off the barge, talk to the Woozy Man and give him Lemon Juice; he'll reward you with 800 EXP, 49 PSP, and Blueberry Tart X3.
Where's the Receptionist?
- Head back to Tatroi and talk to the Diligent Clerk to the left of the entrance to the Colosseum. Use the barge to get back to Astral and go to Mobius One-Stop Shop, to the second floor to find Lucy and her mother.
- Talk to Lucy and she'll open a quest for you, and you'll obtain 3300 EXP and 30 PSP after you complete the Sore Throat Soother quest below.
Sore Throat Soother
- To cure Lucy's mother, you need a Red Herb. Take it to her to complete this quest and the Where's the Receptionist? quest. You'll obtain 400 EXP and 22 PSP for this quest.

Colosseum
- After you complete the two quests that involve Lucy(Where's the Receptionist? and Sore Throat Soother), head back to Tatroi and speak with the Diligent Clerk in the Colosseum to reopen it. The Colosseum is divided into the Main building and the Bunny Race Grounds.
- You can fight in three modes: Solo, Team, or Survival. Each earns coins which can be exchanged at the Coin Exchange for unique weapons. You start at rank 102, and can challenge a group up to 3 ranks higher than you, though it's not recommended - you earn fewer coins. Talk to the Bunny Trainer in the Race Grounds to start a side quest.
Tatroi Side Quests
- These side quests can be activated after reopening the Colosseum.
Listless Bunny
- Talk to the Bunny Trainer in the Race Grounds by the giant bunny. Feed the giant bunny one Stamina Pie and the trainer will let you keep it - you can then give it a name and let it join races.
- Improve your bunny's stats by feeding it rare pies that you can make through IC sessions. You also obtain 555 EXP and 30 PSP.
Puffy's Debut
- Head to the docks in the east of Tatroi, then enter the mansion up north. Talk to the Mishcievous Woman to start the quest, then return to the Colosseum and select one character to battle against one of Puffy's minions.
- You want to lose the battle, so before starting, send a character with low HP, remove all Battle Skills and gear, and make sure the character you use has learned Convert. When you select your item set, use the Strategic Set since it has Gambleberries, which have a 50% chance of decapitating the user.
- Once the battle starts, use all of the Gambleberries. If you manage to survive, use Convert to help bring down your HP. Puffy's minion is ridiculously underpowered, but it can inflict poison status to help you die faster. After the battle, talk to the Mischievous Woman to complete the quest and gain 200 EXP, and 31 PSP.
Puffy's Rage
- After you finish Puffy's Debut, exit the mansion and re-enter to find Puffy. Talk to her and she'll challenge you to a battle - return to the Colosseum and set the character that battled earlier to their default skill set and equipment. Talk to Lucy to start the battle.
- During the fight, control your mages and concentrate your Symbol attacks on the golems. If you have an AoE(area of effect) Symbol, use it in the fight to damage all nearby enemies at once. Rely on your mages to defeat the golems, then return to Puffy to gain 400 EXP and 34 PSP.
Puffy's Revenge
- After you finish Puffy's Rage, re-enter the mansion and talk to Puffy again before returning to the Colosseum to fight another wave of minions. This is a standard fight, so don't worry about special strategies for completion. Treturn to the mansion after you win to gain 800 EXP and 36 PSP.
- After you complete the Puffy quests, you can travel back to the Calnus and leave the planet. Make a quick trip to Woodley Village to deliver the Fang Flute, then leave the planet to encounter a surprise.
The Calnus
- Watch the cutscenes and Sarah will appear - you'll then gain her as a new party member.
- She doesn't have any IC skill, but she does unlock a new option that makes your IC a lot more versatile. You can also trigger a Welch event with Sarah.
Synthesis
- You can use Synthesis after Sarah joins your party. It allows you to combine even low-level food items to your weapons, armor and accessories; it is permanent however, and items can only have up to four Synthesis items added to it.
- To use Synthesis, choose a weapon, piece of armor, or accessory, then choose the item you want to combine with it. You'll be shown a preview of the bonuses before it actually combines. Some items you might want to combine at this point:
- Natto / Barrier Breakwater: +10-15% resist of all status ailments
- Crystal: Increase Crit chance
- Angel Feather: +20 to all stats
- Synthesizing an item changes the name to help you find the item you have synthesized. Accessories are the best thing to synthesize since you don't change them as often as weapons and armor.
- When you finish synthesizing items with Sarah, travel to Aeos. You won't be able to go there automatically since you have some PAs to do. There are a few different ones to choose from - refer to the list to figure out which ones you want to do. You can also steal a Bracteate from Sarah.
PA List
- Talk to Lymle in the Recreation Room to increase Lymle and Meracle's affinity for Edge, and Edge's affinity for Meracle will drop.
- Talk to either Myuria and Reimi in the Recreation Room to increase Edge's affinity for both of them. Reimi's affinity for Edge also increases.
- Talk to Bacchus in his room to have a mutual raise in affinity.
- Talk to Lymle in the Recreation Room to have a mutual raise in affinity for both Faize and Edge. This event is a prerequisite to view one of the game's secret endings.
- Talk to Meracle in her room.
- Talk to Bacchus in the Recreation Room, if you haven't completed his two-part chess event. If you have, you'll find Reimi instead.
- If Faize and Lymle are in the same room, talk to them in their room and watch the cutscenes. This is a prerequisite to trigger one of the secret endings.
- Talk to Meracle in the Recreation Room.
- This next is a secret PA that can be missed. To trigger it, rest in a bed, which will increase Edge's affinity toward Meracle. Reimi loses affinity towards Edge, but you get the chance to make it up later.
- Talk to Myuria in the Recreation Room. You have three options - the first two increase both of the girl's affinity towards Edge, but the first option increases Lymle's affinity more. The second option increases Meracle's affinity more. The third option will cause the girl's affinity to Edge to drop, but Edge will have a boost to his affinity for Myuria, which is rare.
- After you've viewed the bed scene with Edge and Meracle, talk to Reimi in the Simulator Room to restore the affinity points she lost with you.
- If you've been going through the list, you should be able to trigger the next PA. Otherwise, this is just free time to rest until the trip is over. Head to the Flight Deck to trigger the landing scenes.
Aeos Exploration Base
- The base is destroyed - your party will decide to head to the southern shores. After youw atch the cutscenes, explore the area and open the previously locked chest and path. The chest blocked by a Dark Barrier is located north of the base, on the northern coast.
- The path that was previously blocked is inside Urd Falls cave, and can now be opened using the Earth Ring to break the large boulder blocking the chamber. Take every chest you come across to unlock the Treasure Hoarder achievement.
- Before you head to your next objective, return to the Calnus and perform the newly-unlocked PAs.
Calnus PAs
- Visit Faize in the Storage Room where he trains.
- If you missed any of the previous events, they should now be available. Otherwise, continue to the next PA listed.
- Speak to Sarah in the Recreation Room to have a mutual affinity increase.
- Speak to Meracle in the Simulator Room to have a mutual affinity increase.
- Talk to Meracle in her room and listen to her story. When she asks you, pick the "a town with a colosseum" option, or both characters will lose affinity for each other.
- There are new sidequests available in Roak at this point, which include a dungeon and optional boss battle. If you want the data analysis and enemy data, it's suggested you complete that sidequest first - you'll also be able to get some rare minerals.
Roak Astral City
- Head to Astral City and talk to Lias, the Royal Knight. He is beside the stairs and just northeast of the barge - he'll send you on a hunt.
Ogre Battling
- Hunt 30 Ogres to complete this quest. The count doesn't begin until after you accept this quest, so even if you've already killed hundreds of them, Lias won't acknowledge it.
- Be sure to allow the Ogres to surprise attack you to have them appear in groups of four, which cuts down on the time needed to complete this quest.
- When you finish, talk to Lias to obtain 400 EXP, 56 PSP, and an Astralian Emblem.
Rumble in the Caves
- Talk to Lias again after completing Ogre Battling and he'll send you to the Astral Caves. After you complete this dungeon and defeat the boss(the details of which are listed below), talk to Lias again.
- Talking to Lias will net you 1000 EXP, 80 PSP, and Recipe Memo 21.
Cherished Bangle
- In the B2 level of the Astral Caves, you'll find a dying knight named Lewis caught in a web. Talk to him to obtain the Knight's Bangle and head back to Astral.
- Lewis' wife is the woman in the residence to the south of the barge. Give her the bangle to obtain 500 EXP and 32 PSP.
Rumble in the Caves
- This is a rather long sidequest, which is why it has it's own section. Remember that after completing this quest, you should complete the Cherished Bangle to finish up the sidequests in Astral.
- Monsters Encountered: Corpse Bat, Ice Corpse, Rock Hermit, Succubus, Vomiting Gel
- Harvest Items: N/A
- Mining Items: Aluminum, Coal, Crystal, Green Beryl, Light Gem, Runic Metal, Shadestone, Thunder Gem
Pickpocket List - Astral Cave
- Ralph, Slow-Motion Knight: Natto
- Tony, Wandering Knight: Glowstick
- Lewis, Knight Near Death: Sacrificial Doll
- Wystal, Knight Corporal: R. Animal Meat
- Richard, Faultless Knight: Chain Combos
Astral Cave B1
- You'll need the Earth Ring to reach several of the items here, but you don't need it to complete the quest itself. There are two new enemies to analyze, and lots of mining points with uncommon to rare grade minerals.
- As you explore the cave, cave-ins may occur - you'll need to look for a ramp or some other way around these to continue. There are also blocked paths that can be smashed open by a rolling piece of boulder, which you can trigger.
- In the B1 area, head to the eastern section and free the pinned knight by using the Earth Ring on the rock; this will allow you to pickpocket him. Head to the next floor down.
Astral Cave B2
- Find Lewis, the knight that's dying in the web, and talk to him to activate the Cherished Bangle sidequest(which you should already know the details to). Head to the southeast exit and watch the cutscene that triggers.
Astral Cave B3
- Save your game, and grab the items in the southern area. One of the items is blocked by a Light Barrier, so ignore it for now. Head north and a tremor will cause a cave-in that blocks your path.
- Turn south to find a boulder, then go further south until you spot a ramp. Climb the ramp and step over the boulder, which will nudge the boulder and make it smash through the block, clearing your path.
- Before you head north, be sure you're prepared - there's a boss battle awaiting you. Examine the underground spring in the southwest corner for a full party recovery. Head north to trigger some cutscenes, then a boss battle.
BOSS FIGHT: Cave Guardian
- HP: 120184
- Resists: Water, Thunder
- Weak: N/A
- EXP: 25623
- Fol: 13406
- Drops: Regeneration Symbol
- The boss here has a ton of HP, and unless you've been over-leveling, this fight will last a few minutes. The Cave Guardian's attacks are difficult to avoid due to it's size, so bring a melee fighter with Auto-Heal and HP Boost.
- Sarah should be your healer, and Reimi and Bacchus even out the party with ranged attacks. If you want more offense than that, switch out one of the ranged fighters with a Symbologist.
- The Guardian uses Rush Mode whenever it gets the opportunity, so hit it with constant chains of multi-hit attacks such as Crimson Squall or Hunter's Moon. You'll have more chances to hit it due to it's size, and you can switch between characters before their Rush gauges fill completely so you can manually trigger a Rush Combo.
- After you defeat the boss, the tremors in Tatroi and Astral stop. Return to the spring and restore your party's HP/MP and save your game. Head north and step on the boulder again to make it smash the block up north. Grab the item and check the mining point, then take the western exit.
Astral Cave B2 (Tatroi)
- This is the final area of the cave, and as such, it has a few goodies. Step on the only boulder in the area to smash the wooden gate leading to Tatroi, then grab the remaining items and exit to the village. Head back to Astral and talk to Lias to receive your reward.
- Return to the Calnus and head to Aeos.
Aeos
- It's time to discover who destroyed the base on Aeos.
Base Area
- There's a new exit to the south of the base that takes you to the southern area of the landing point. Take the entrance leading to the Undersea Tunnel.
Undersea Tunnel
- Monsters Encountered: Adephaga Milies, Adephaga Venom, Vampire Bat
- There's only one item here, no mining points, and it's a rather straight path. The item is on the second path to the right. The enemies here are just upgrades from those you've fought previously, so use the same strategies against them - be careful not to let them poison you, however.
- Keep Cure Condition and Aquaberries on hand in case you are poisoned, then fight your way to the end of the tunnel to reach a field.
Southern Reaches
- Monsters Encountered: Adephaga Milies, Adephaga Venom, Horned Tortoise, Lamia Radix, Stinger
- Harvest Items: Aquaberries, Bigberries, Blackberries, Blue Seed, Cane, Fresh Sage, Gambleberries, Ginseng, Insect Egg, Red Seed, Ripe Berries, Thornberries
- Mining Items: Disintegration Stone, Earth Gem, Gold, Iron, Light Gem, Magical Clay
- Before you head to the southwest area, head to the northeast and use your Earth Ring to melt the large rock blocking your way. You now have direct access to the Base Area, so you won't need to fight through the Undersea Tunnel if you want to go back to the ship. You will need to go through the tunnel to get back to this area.
- This area is rich in mining and harvest points, so try to collect as many Disintegration Stones as you can. Later in the game, you acquire a skill that lets you use these to charge your rings. Head to the recovery and save point.
- IMPORTANT: Before you continue, remove all of Faize's equipment. Prepare your party for a massive fight, which triggers just a few steps past the save point. If you have any dishes with stat-boosting properties, feed everyone with whatever you can spare.
- The first few waves of enemies are easy enough, but they get harder as time goes by. They can counter Blindsides, and they have ranged attacks, making it simple work for them to break your Bonus Board. Use wide-area attacks like Bacchus' Black Hole Sphere, and keep Auto-Healing, Energy Shield, and No Guard skills to stay on the offensive as much as you can.
- If any of your characters die at the start or even halfway through, you may want to switch them to a reserve character with full HP and MP so you can continue fighting without wasting time using items or Symbols - when a single enemy is left in the field, revive the fallen character.
- The last few waves of enemies will be the Phantom Leaders, who have lots of HP and do a lot of damage. If you've been saving MP, don't be afraid to use it on special attacks and Symbols as you need to finish the battle.
- After you finish the fight, Faize will leave the party, and Arumat will take his place. When you get back in control, head to the Calnus, take all of Arumat's equipment off and Synthesize it to add new effects. You can also hold Invention sessions with him to unlock more gear he can use.
The Calnus
- You can perform a PA with Arumat - talk to him, and he'll challenge you to a duel. If you win, you'll gain his affinity, but if you lose, he'll lose affinity for you. After the fight, you'll want to head to the northeast corner of the Souther Reaches.
Aeos - Miga Insect Warren
- Monsters Encountered: Adephaga Milies, Adephaga Venom, Dermoptera, Lamia Radix, Polyphaga Drus, Vampire Bat
- Harvest Items: N/A
- Mining Items: Darkness Gem, Earth Gem, Gnomestone, Gold, Green Beryl, Light Gem, Magical Claw, Meteorite
- Use the quicksands to get to the lower level. It's not too hard to navigate as long as you use your map to remember where you drop when you use the quicksand. Be sure to hit the mining spots for rare minerals like the Gnomestones, Green Beryls, and Meteorites.
- Once you enter the cave, use the only quicksand there to reach B2. Use the Earth Ring to remove the obstacle blocking your access to the first treasure, then head east until you reach the quicksand there.
- On B3, head south, grab the Nature Wand, then head left. Use the quicksand that the treasure chest falls into to head further into the area.
- Here on B4, you'll need to land in the end of the westernmost path of the cave. Head east and thaw the ice blocking your way, then head down the path and wait for the Polyphaga to tear down the roadblock for you.
- You can only open one of the chests, since the other is protected by a Light Barrier. Get the two Monster Jewels from the chest, then jump down and head southeast.
- Check the chest here for the Skill Manual for Charge. Teach it to Lymle and you'll be able to charge your rings using Disintegration Stones, which will save you time and money. Max this skill out to fully charge rings at the cost of only one Disintegration Stone.
- After you get everything you can, head back up to B3. Head north and grab the two items in the western area(Vile Goop and Hurricane Claw), then head north to reach another quicksand portal. Jump through it to reach the western side of B4.
- Grab the item in the southwest area and head to the save point. Do not approach the item here until you save, since it'll trigger a boss fight. Boost any skills you need to, check your equipment, and heal or feed everyone, then head to the item to trigger some cutscenes and a battle.
BOSS FIGHT: Armaros Manifest
- HP: ???
- Resists: Earth
- Weak: Wind
- EXP: 34147
- Fol: 34302
- Drops: Monster Jewel
- The Armaros Manifest has a carapace that resists most of your attacks, so you'll need to target the weak spot on its tail to deal any substantial damage. This isn't easy - you'll have to use Blindsides to hit it.
- Use Edge to Blindside after setting his BEAT to S, then perform combos for every successful Blindside you perform to deal massive damage, especially if you have Stun or Critical Hit equipped to him.
- Armaros uses Dermoptera underlings, but these can be destroyed rather quickly. If you're overleveled, then you can use this opportunity by allowing it to summon Dermopteras so you can finish getting their data.
- Watch the cutscenes after the fight, and when you're back in control, grab the chest and take the southeast exit. Keep following the path and grab the item along the way, then exit the cave and take the shortcut back to the Base Area. Jump from the ledge to the west to get there quickly, then return to the Calnus.
The Calnus
- Watch the cutscenes, then perform PAs as follows:
- Talk to Sarah in the Recreation Room.
- Duel with Arumat if you forgot to earlier.
- If Edge and Reimi are in the same room, and you remembered her birthday during a PA that happened a long time ago, rest in your bed to view a PA between the two of them.
- View Meracle's PA in the Battle Simulator.
- Speak to Lymle and Reimi in the Recreation Room.
- Talk to Sarah to trigger her treadmill scene.
- If you defeated Arumat in a duel, talk to him in his room.
- Talk to Sarah in her room, and choose the "no way" dialog option for a mutual affinity increase.
- Head to the Storage Room(south) and watch the event between Meracle and Arumat.
- Talk to Arumat and Reimi in the Recreation Room, and choose the option where Crowe is your rival.
- Talk to Bacchus in his room.
- Talk to Myuria in the Simulator Room.
- If you triggered Bacchus' PA, talk to Arumat in his room - if you don't see him, rest, and he'll become available.
- Talk to Sarah and Lymle in the Recreation Room.
- Talk to the girls in the Recreation Room.
- Go to the rest rooms for a funny, if unfortunate, scene.
- Save your game, then enter the Flight Deck to continue the story - you'll arrive in En II shortly. Once you're back in control, there are more PAs to trigger:
- Talk to Meracle and Myuria in the Recreation Room.
- Talk to Myuria in the Recreation Room.
- Talk to Reimi in her/your room.
- Talk to Reimi in the Simulator Room.
En II
- Grab the two chests in the docks and take the pod to reach the Central Control Room. Talk to the Smiling Woman near the pod to get the weapon data for NDS002 Symbolic Rod, then talk to the Hopeful Man to obtain the data for ND003 Handblaster.
- Grab the two chests and examine the elevator in the center to get alist of destinations - choose Monitor Room B, and examine the rotating discs to get the ship data for Rednuht if you haven't already gotten it, Morphus Battleship, Morphus Exploration Craft, Cardianon Battlecraft, and The Calnus(USTA Transport).
- Now head to Monitor Room A and talk to Giotto, which will be interrupted by an emergency. Head to the Sanctuary to get rid of the Grigori, but you can visit the Centropolis to upgrade equipment and do some quests first. Before you do that, however, take the elevator to Old Road to the Sanctuary.
En II Pickpocket List
- Smiling Woman: Sweet Fruit
- Hopeful Man: Ash
- Traffic-Control Woman: Manacloth
- Giotto: Monster Jewel
- Operator: 170000 Fol

Old Road to the Sanctuary
- Talk to Barago, who'll sind you on a quest to retrieve the Wind Ring. He'll mention that you can get it from the chief of the Flora/Fauna Lab in Centropolis, though you can bypass that and head to the ring's location now. Take the elevator to Centropolis.
Centropolis
- Head to the cemetery, located in the northeastern corner of the map. Check the gravestone furthest to the right in the second row, then go upstairs to the southwest and examine the tree to obtain the Wind Ring.
- To fully upgrade everyone's equipment, you'll need approximately 500,000 Fol or more. That's not including the new accessories and materials you need for IC sessions. Find Myuria's friend Katrina walking around the fountain structure east of the Inn.
- Talk to Katrina to receive a Funereal Bouquet and Recipe Memo 26, and be sure to check out the Imitation Gallery in the far eastern area of the map.

Centropolis Sidequests=
- Be sure to buy Zoology for Sarah and Fast Cast for Lymle and Myuria, and check the Imitation Gallery for weapons before you start spending money in other shops.
The Wind Ring
- You should already have obtained the Wind Ring earlier, since it was mandatory. You received 1000 EXP and 23 PSP for completing it.
A Distinguished Rarity
- Head north, towards the center of the area between the Skill Guild and the Flora/Fauna Lab to find the Unyielding Man - he wants to see a rare vase.
- Bring the Japonesque Vase to the Unyielding Man(it's made through IC). You can buy Mental Stimulant from Min-Min's Rejuvenation Shop in the mall. You'll obtain 2400 EXP, 60 PSP, and an Angelstone.
The Elusive Female Firefly
- Head to the Flora/Fauna Lab and talk to the Young-at-Heart Researcher - he'll ask you to find a female Crimson Firefly. These are floating in the Cave to the Purgatorium on Roak.
- You can't determine the difference in gender of these Fireflies, so catch 20 of them - chances are you'll have a female in the group. If you already have a full stock of them, it's possible you have a female already.
- Turn in the Firefly to obtain 3000 EXP, 49 PSP, and a Shortcake.
The Unopenable Chest
- Talk to the Jealous Wife standing by the chest protected by the Ivy Barrier east of the mall. Clear the ivy with the Wind Ring, then open the chest to obtain a Diary, then talk to the Jealous Wife again to obtain 1800 EXP, 45 PSP, and an Echo Machine.
Where's the Recipe?
- Equip the Bandit's Gloves and go the Flora/Fauna Lab. Steal the Secret Memo from the Young-at-Heart Researcher and take it to the chef at the Magical Foods shop in the mall.
- Turn in the recipe to obtain 1500 EXP, 41 PSP, and the Recipe Memo 08 (Mille-Feuille), as well as open the Magical Foods shop in the mall for use.
Guitar Maker
- Talk to the Free-Spirited Woman in the northwest of the mall - she needs a guitar to start her career. Buy the Guitar Parts from the Masterful materials shop and build it using IC - if you need the recipe, hold an Invention Session with meracle, Myuria, and Lymle.
- Deliver the completed guitar to the Free-Spirited Woman to obtain 3000 EXP and 45 PSP.
- When you've finished up all the sidequests, head to the Old Road to the Sanctuary.
En II
- Monsters Encountered: Cursed Horror, Lightning Corpse, Metal Golem, Stroper
- Harvest Items: N/A
- Mining Items: N/A
Old Road to the Sanctuary
- There are two Skill Manuals here that you'll want to be sure to pick up - Bunny Call and Haggling. Teach Bunny Call to Sarah so she can summon a bunny in the open field, and Haggling to Myuria to increase the value of things you sell by a maximum of 30%.
- Use Lymle's Parapsychology since the Cursed Horrors and Master Wizards are considered Undead type enemies. Master Wizards have a chance of dropping Dragonblood Crystals, Mana Ribbons, and Manacloths, so farm them if you need to.
Sanctuary
- Monsters Encountered: Ancient Chimera, Cursed Horror, Early Psynard, Master Wizard
- Harvest Items: Bigberries, Blueberries, Blue Rose, Fresh Sage, Oak, Perfect Berries, Ripe Berries, Shadow Rose, Thornberries
- Mining Items: Angelstone, Disintegration Stone, Gnomestone, Magical Clay, Meteorite, Mithril, Nereistone, Ruby, Silver, Thorstone, Wind Gem
- The Sanctuary has some nice rare items, so be sure to keep an eye out for them. There's a transporter that you can use to return to Centropolis if you need to, but it's only available after you defeat the boss.
- Collect all of the chests and examine the Harvest and Mining Points. The Early Psynard enemies are deadly if you leave them to their own devices, so destroy them with Ice Symbols before you fight the Cursed Horrors and Master Wizards.
- Use the recovery point to the southwest and save before you approach the boss.
BOSS FIGHT: Kokabiel
- HP: ???
- Resists: Earth, Ice, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Light
- Weak: Dark
- EXP: 63166
- Fol: 30712
- Drops: Potent Magic Seeds
- Kokabiel has spawns that can be easily destroyed depending on your party's strength, but there are four indestructible ones that surround the boss, so ignore them. Don't use Rush Combos on the spawns since you'll likely hit one of the indestructible ones.
- A good party for this fight is Arumat, Edge, Reimi, and Sarah. Arumat should learn and boost No Guard to max, and have him use the AoE attacks he has while keeping everyone healthy with recovery items and Symbols.
- Have everyone set Auto-Healing to level 10, and watch for when Kokabiel surrounds himself with a ball of light - continue attacking during this to interrupt the casting, and use AoE attacks to damage both the boss and the spawns at the same time.
- After you defeat Kokabiel, you'll arrive in Centropolis to watch more cutscenes.
Centropolis
- Head back to the Inn and save your game, then start towards the buildings on the sides of the mall. Examine the doors to Bacchus' room to trigger a PA, then check Myuria's door to trigger her PA - select the "it's a really nice building" dialog option to gain affinity, but for Myuria the "I'd probably hide a letter in a gift I gave her" option is better.
- Use the transporter to go back to the Sanctuary by entering the transporter room east of the Inn.
Sanctuary
- There are some sidequests you can trigger by examining one of the four crystals here. You can only complete three of them since the fourth requires you to travel.
The Trial of Courage
- As soon as you accept this trial, you'll be in a four-part fight. As long as you aren't struggling with the common Sanctuary enemies, you'll be fine.
- Complete this trial to gain 4000 EXP, 40 PSP, and a Greater Sacrificial Doll.
The Trial of Might
- This also starts you in a fight, but against only one strong enemy. It's weak against all Symbols aside from Dark and Earth. You can Air-Juggle it while the rest of the party hits it with Symbols.
- Defeat this enemy for 4000 EXP, 40 PSP, and a Laser Weapon.
The Trial of Love
- You'll need to get a Psynard Egg and hatch it to a chick with Nimahl's help back in the Flora/Fauna Lab. The egg is a rare drop by Early Psynards - max your Steal and Ornithology skills, though it'll still take quite a few fights.
- After you get the egg, head to the Flora/Fauna Lab and talk to Nimahl. You'll receive Recipe Memo 30, so head back to the Calnus and make the Growth Stimulant Ampule. Return it to Nimahl to get the Psynard chick.
- Take the chick back to the Sanctuary and place it in the gem's care to obtain 4000 EXP, 40 PSP, and a Chalice of Love.
The Trial of Wisdom
- You'll need to travel to several locations for this sidequest, which coincides with new sidequests available on the planets you visit. You'll receive the cryptograph, which contains clues about where to find the next one.
- On Lemuris, in the Thalia Plains; on Aeos, in the Southern Reaches; on Roak, in Tropp Area. After you collect everything, you'll receive 4000 EXP, 40 PSP, and Faerie Star Skill Manual.
En II
Monitor Room A
- When you're ready, head to Monitor Room A and listen to the plan from Giotto. There's a few long cutscenes to watch.
Nox Obscurus
Ravine of Extinction
- After you land, the Calnus is critically damaged, so you won't be able to travel back to the previous planets via ship - there is a transporter that will be set up, however, so don't worry too much. There's a Morphus Symbologist outside the Calnus that can heal you as well.
- If you need to go back to finish any uncompleted sidequests, now would be the time to do it. You can also trigger some PAs with high-affinity party members.
The Calnus
- Talk to Reimi in the Simulator Room. This PA is only available if you triggered a PA with Reimi during the warp from the Cardianon Mothership and responded to "show her to the stars" during that PA.
- Talk to Myuria at the bar in the Recreation Room.
- Talk to Bacchus in the hallway on 2F, near the room assignment board.
- Talk to Arumat in his room.
- Talk to Lymle and Cerberus in the right wing Storage Room.
- When you're finished, as long as you triggered the Trial of Wisdom sidequest, you'll want to stop at Lemuris.
Lemuris
Triom Village
- Check Ghimdo's grave to trigger Lymle's funeral event, then use the transporter to reach Woodley Village.
Woodley Village
- There are two sidequests that coincide with the Trial of Wisdom sidequest.
- The second entrance leading to Alanaire Citadel is open now, so you can easily visit it to open the two barred chests and trigger a few PAs and a quest.
A Cherished Keepsake
- Head to the Inn and talk to the boy there. Leave the Inn, and head to the item shop to talk to Sir Francis, the Curious Cat to obtain the Oracle's Charm.
- Talk to the boy at the Inn again to receive a copy of the Chain Combos Skill Manual, as well as 100 EXP and 20 PSP.
Wood for the Hearth
- Talk to the Accommodating Woman in the southeast of the village - she needs 10 wooden sticks. You'll find this at Harvest Points if you don't already have them.
- Take the sticks back to the Accommodating Woman to complete the quest and receive 140 EXP, 20 PSP, and Attack Seeds.
Woodley Village
- If you talk to the cat in the book/skill manual shop, he'll point you to a hidden stash at the back of the store. Exit the shop and follow the path around to find a sparkling object. Examine it to collect 22,222 Fol.
Alanaire Citadel
- Open the chests to obtain a Blue Talisman and a Sacred Scepter on the way to the top floor of the Citadel. Lutea is the new acting oracle her, so talk to her twice to initiate two PAs taht increases Edge's affinity with Lymle.
- You'll also receive weapon data for the Oracle's Staff, and after a few more game hours have passed, you'll need to return to Lutea to activate the new quest.
Lutea's Secret Stone
- Lutea needs seven stones: Salamanderstone, Gnomestone, Sylphstone, Nereidstone, Thorstone, Angelstone and Shadestone. You can't activate this quest immediately after completing the wo PAs with Lutea, so collect these stones while waiting to activate the quest.
- You can find the stones in the following locations:
- Salamanderstone: - Astral Desert, Tropp Area
- Sylphstone: Astral Desert, Cave to the Purgatorium
- Shadestone: Cave to the Purgatorium, Purgatorium Area, Astral Caves, Halls of Termination
- Gnomestone: Miga Insect Warren, Sanctuary
- Nereidstone: Sanctuary
- Thorstone: Sanctuary
- Angelstone: Sanctuary
- After you return the stones to Lutea, you'll receive Lutea's Sacred Stone. Lymle is the only character who can equip it, but her parameter's will be greatly boosted, as well as damage-negating properties similar to the Blue Talisman. Synthesize it with the right items and it's an unstoppable accessory for Lymle.
- You'll also receive 2000 EXP and 99 PSP for completing this quest.
Citadel
- Before you leave Lemuris, exit the Citadel via the south entrance and head to the icy area of Thalia Plains. Cross the lake and find the narrow path in the northeastern area of the map.
- Examine the sparkling item to obtain Cryptograph 2, part of the Trial of Wisdom sidequest. You can also visit the Celestial Ship to open two chests that have Bacchus' Imortal Smasher and an Anti-Freezing Amulet, as well as Recipe Memo 25.
- When you're ready, be sure to have two Funereal Bouquets and head to Aeos.
Aeos
Exploration Base
- Check the spot marked by a purple exclamation point - Reimi and Edge will perform the funereal event. Exit south and go through the Undersea Tunnel to reach the Southern Reaches.
Southern Reaches
- Examine all the Harvest Points and Mining Points in this area, then examine the debris from the Eldarian Refugee Ship near the shore.
- Arumat will perform the funereal event here. When he finishes, go to the winding path north of the recovery and save points to find the next cryptograph. Rotate the camera to make finding it a bit easier - it's rather well hidden by the environment.
- If you need insect eggs or insect legs, this is the place to collect them. When you finish, head to Roak, to Tropp.
Roak
Tropp
- Meracle and Sarah's closing PAs are here, as well as their funereal events - be sure you have two Funereal Bouquets before you come. Head to the shore behind tropp and check the door leading to Eleyna's Hideout.
- Talk to Eleyna to initiate a sidequest that you need to trigger Meracle's closing PAs.
It Came From the Vent
- Talk to Eleyna in her hideout to initiate this sidequest. Leave the hideout and find the Vomiting Gel on a stone chimney near the town walls.
- Defeat the Vomiting Gel, then talk to Eleyna to receive 600 EXP, 38 PSP, and Recipe Memo 13.
Tropp
- After you finish the side quest, leave the hideout and talk to her again to start the PA with Meracle. When it finishes, leave and return to the hideout again. The funereal event will trigger - when it finishes, you'll need to trigger the last PA with Meracle.
- The last PA with Meracle requires high affinity; if you don't have one high enough to trigger the PA, use Love Potion #256 until you can. To trigger the last PA, head to the northern part of Tropp's docks and approach the edge until the event triggers.
- When you finish, head to the Purgatorium to access the door that was previously blocked by ivy. Head east instead of west, and examine the large pillar beside the mountain to find the Philosopher's Tome. Enter the cave and head to B3 of the Purgatorium.
Purgatorium
- Use the Wind Ring to open the chests covered in ivy in B1 to find the Recipe Memo 24, and in B2 to find the Anti-Void Amulet. When you finish collecting treasures, open the ivy-covered door in the southwest area of B3.
- There are two statue-based puzzles that aren't difficult to figure out; solve them both and you'll gain access to Sylphide's Mail and Folklore Plate.
- When you finish up, you'll want to head to Astral Castle. If you're still trying to catch the Sand Fish(one of the orders from the Flora/Fauna Lab in En II), stop by the Astral Desert.
Astral Desert
- Check the southernmost oasis and watch the edge of the water. Walk instead of running so you have a clear view - you'll see a brown fish near the edge.
- Approach it to pick it up and obtain the Sand Fish. When you finish, head to Tatroi.
Tatroi
- Use your Wind Ring to open the chest near the Coliseum that's blocked by ivy, then head to the docks.
- Enter the Queen of Inventor's House to find two more sidequests.
The Fourth Errand
- You'll need to deliver 20 units of Intensified Gunpowder. If you installed the Li'l Vending Machine LV2 in the Calnus, you'll have easy access to Iron, which is the main component. You'll also need Thunder Gems, which you can find at Mining Points in Tatroi or the Astral Desert.
- If you need an alternative source of Thunder Gems, you can fight Lightning Corpses in En II's Old Road to the Sanctuary area. When you finish, you'll obtain 1200 EXP, 34 PSP, and a Silent Talisman.
The Fifth Errand
- You need to deliver 12 Giant Bird Feathers. These can be found by defeating Axe Breaks in the Northeast Astralian Continent or the Early Psynards in the Sanctuary on En II.
- Complete this quest to earn 2400 EXP, 36 PSP, and Recipe Memo 01.
- After you finish, head to the Astral City and to the castle. You can trigger Sarah's funereal event here.
Astral Castle
- Talk to the king to start the funereal event. Sarah's closing PA only triggers if you viewed her treadmill scene. Go to the Calnus' landing area in the Northeast Astralian Continent and the PA will automatically trigger.
- It's time now to head to En II, the last destination before exploring Nox Obscurus.
En II
Centropolis
- You can trigger Myuria's funereal event by examining the tombstone under the tree in the cemetery where you found the Wind Ring. Even if you're saving your Funereal Bouquets, do this, since there aren't many chances to increase Myuria's affinity.
- Head to the docks to trigger Bacchus' funereal event - to trigger it, head near the closest Morphus Fighter Ship for the scene.
- Go to Monitoring Room B and check the data discs to obtain ship data for Zamzagiel, Dominion, Calnus-III, Aquila-B, Phantom Craft(SRF Style), and the USTA Warship. If you've been following the walkthrough so far, you only need one more entry; however, you'll have to finish the game at least once before it becomes available.
- Finish completing orders, gathering IC materials, and crafting any new items you can, then head to Nox Obscurus.
Nox Obscurus
Ravine of Extinction
- Monsters Encountered: Dark Panzer, Dark Soldier, Little Phantom, Phantom Beetle, Phantom Chimera, Phantom Lizard, Soul Reaper
- Harvest Items: Basil, Bigberries, Fresh Sage, Ginseng, Insect Egg, Red Herb, Ripe Berries, Thornberries
- Mining Items: Coal, Darkness Gem, Disintegration Stone, Green Beryl, Mercury, Mithril, Ruby, Runic Metal
- You'll have some tough battles coming up. The common enemies here are extremely aggressive and can detect you from far away, making preemptive strikes nigh impossible. If you're having a lot of trouble, you may want to grind for levels first before continuing any further.
- You'll need to jump off the jumping points around the map. To reach the higher places, look for bubbles forming in the swamps and ride them. You have to manually burst out of them and jump off the bubble - if you do it too early or too late, you'll fall back to the ground and have to start over.
- Avoid the black jetstreams shooting from the ground; they'll damage and poison your party. If you need mining items, check in the Ravine, then head to the next area when you finish.
Ravine of Extinction Pickpocket List
- Trembling Girl: Magic Seeds
- Louvre, Healing Symbol Master: Healing Paint
- Vigorous Warrior: Dragonblood Crystal
- Morale Boosting Warrior: Ripe Berries
- Self-Suggesting Warrior: Hyper Potion
- Extremely Prudent Woman: Support Card
Pulsating Bog
- Monsters Encountered: Chaotic Leader, Dark Material, Little Phantom, Phantom Chimera, Phantom Lizard, Soul Reaper
- Harvest Items: Ash, Basil, Bigberries, Blackberries, Fresh Sage, Poison Hemlock, Thornberries
- Mining Items: Coal, Crystal Skull, Darkness Gem, Disintegration Stone, Mercury, Mithril, Runic Metal, Star Ruby
- The harvest and mining items in this area are slightly different, so be sure to grab any of them you need. Be sure to find Lymle's Nightmare Wand while you're here, and consider heading back to the Calnus to synthesize it and restock the mining and harvest points before continuing.
- There's a recovery point in the elevated area you can use right before you find the Nightmare Wand, so be sure to keep an eye out for it. To the southwest is a savepoint and two Morphus close to death.
- Talk to Orwen, the dying Morphus, to find the last sidequest in the game, then talk to the other one, Lenore, to recharge one of your rings for the last time. If you decide not to kill her, you can also recharge your ring using Lymle's Charge skill. You'll need the Earth Ring the most, so keep it charged for now.
The Last Letter
- Talk to Orwen to start this sidequest. Return to En II and speak with Giotto, then return to the location where you found Orwen to discover Jessica's body.
- Examine Jessica's corpse to deliver the letter and complete the quest, earning 3000 EXP and 50 PSP for doing so.
Halls of Termination
- Monsters Encountered: Chaotic Leader, Dark Material, Dark Raptor, Dark Bot "Striker", Phantom Dragon Newt, Phantom Dragoon
- Harvest Items: Ash, Basil, Bigberries, Blackberries, Cane, Health Seeds, Ripe Berries, Thornberries
- Mining Items: Crystal Skull, Darkness Gem, Disintegration Stone, Mithril, Runic Metal, Shadestone, Star Ruby, STar Sapphire
- This area only has three mining points, so you might be able to mine the rare Star Sapphire gem that you need for high level equipment. If you need Red Dragon Scales and Symbol Boosters, fight the Phantom Dragon Newts and Phantom Dragoons.
- There are diamond-shaped crystals emitting energy - if you fight enemies in the field being emitted, you won't be able to use your special attacks, symbols, or skills. Kite(lure) enemies away from the field, or destroy the crystals with your Earth Ring, though the latter is difficult with all the enemies nearby.
- Head south, watch the cutscenes as they are triggered, and take notice that there's a funereal event that can be triggered here. It directly affects the game's ending, so if you want it, bring a Funereal Bouquet with you. Examine the Aquila remains to trigger it, then save your game near the entrance to the Palace of Creation and head inside.
Palace of Creation
- Monsters Encountered: Chaotic Cell, Chaotic Leader, Dark Ape, Dark Bishop, Dark Clown, Dark Rapter, Forsaken Beast, Lava Golem, Necromancer, Phantom Dragon Newt, Phantom Lizard
1F
- Everything here will be black and white your first time visiting. Grab the first three chests, then ride the pendulum in the middle right of the map. You can use the pendulum to backtrack to reach the fourth chest. The enemies are difficult to see, since they blend in with the background due to the coloration.
- Head to the upper left exit to reach 2F.
2F
- This is the first of two asteroid fields in this dungeon - pass through the warp portals to reach your destination. You'll be ambushed a few times as you make your way through, so be prepared.
- Collect the loot, defeat the enemies you encounter, and head to 3F.
3F
- There are no puzzles in this area - it's a straightforward shot to the exit. Collect the loot and head to 5F, not 4F, to do something that makes your life easier a little later on.
5F
- Find the pendulum and find a way to get it working again. You can't get the items to the north because of the monsters blocking the path.
- Grab the first chest and head south, use the Fire Ring to melt the ice covering the pendulum, then ride it to the other side to grab the two items there. Head north to reach 8F.
8F
- You'll want to be careful who you teach ATK Boost to - the best choices are Arumat, Edge, and Bacchus. Pick one, teach it to them, and pair it with Critical Hit to deal 5 figures of damage.
- Defeat the Forsaken Beast on this floor, then head north to find a statue. Examine it, then head north and check the mirror.
- Head back to the statue and check it again to receive the Serpent Staff. From here, you'll need to backtrack to 3F and from there, to 4F, but you need to go to 7F first.
7F
- Time is frozen here, but if you attempt to go upstairs, they will crumble. Instead, grab the contents of the chest, return to 8F, and from there head back to 3F to reach the exit to 4F.
4F
- There are two entrances here that lead to 7F. Enter the first just north of where you start and grab the two items in 7F. If you try to go upstairs, they'll crumble, so grab the last two chests and return.
- Grab Bacchus' weapon in the northwest, then take the exit to reach 6F.
6F
- There are no other exits here, and no puzzles, but there is a recovery point and lots of loot. Grab everything except what's protected by the barriers, then head back to 4F.
- Head to the eastern exit, picking up the contents of the two chests along the way, and take the exit to 7F.
7F
- The Serpent Staff will break the chains holding the pendulum as soon as you enter, which brings everything back to life and starts time back up. Ride the pendulum to the other side and take the exit to 9F.
9F
- This is the last savepoint in the game, and the door past it leads to the last fights in the game. Max out any skills and special attacks you need, and ignore the two rooms as you can't access them until later. Take the door to the north to start the last battles.
BOSS FIGHT: Apostle of Creation
- HP: ???
- Resists: Dark
- Weak: Light
- EXP: 63052
- Fol: 7984
- You'll need to use Sarah or any other Symbol user who knows Faerie Star for this fight. Feed your party with stat-boosting dishes, and the recommended level for attempting this battle is between 78 and 82; at level 85 this fight poses little threat, so if you want to overlevel, this is a good one to do it for.
- You won't be using a lot of Blindsides in this fight, so set your fighter's BEAT to N, and your Symbologist's BEAT to B to prevent knock down and ignore damage while casting. Turn of Sarah's offensive spells and make her buff spells available.
- Myuria is a good choice for offensive spells, and she has a revival symbol which works out if Sarah is busy and you need to revive a fallen party member. Be sure everyone has their Chain Combos maxed out, and be sure to use them regularly.
- The Apostle has some high-damage attacks and can kill your party quickly if you don't pay attention. Use recovery symbols and items in-between, and control your healer manually if need be to make sure nobody drops below 60% HP.
- If you hear the boss say something, it means an attack is on the way - move off into a safe area and wait for him to start charging up again before relaxing. After you defeat the boss, more interesting things happen...
After the Apostle of Creation
- As soon as you defeat the Apostle, you'll be taken to an unknown void with no map access. The bosses you've previously defeated are all here waiting for you - you can avoid them if you like, but it's suggested that you fight them at the least to get the monster data.
- These bosses are far more powerful than they were originally, but if you use the same tactics as before, you should be able to defeat them. Keep following the light, and keep your party fully healed, feeding them stat-boosting dishes if you have any. Don't bother with increasing EXP or Fol drops; the next boss doesn't give either.
BOSS FIGHT: Satanail
- HP: ???
- Resists: Dark
- Weak: Light
- EXP: 0
- Fol: 0
- Satanail starts with four orbs that encircle it and provide an impenetrable shield of protection. You need to destroy the orbs to deal damage to Satanail, so set your fighter's tactics to "gang up on foe with full force".
- Ignore your Bonus Boards for this battle - you don't benefit from it anyway, so control your fighter manually to make targeting the orbs easier. Use No Guard and Auto-Healing for your front line, as well as Fury Boost.
- Replace any KO'ed characters with reserve party members, then revive them between attacks. To help with healing, take direct control of Sarah if need be - keep everybody healed and buffed as best you can.
- Satanail has a ton of HP, so this fight might take a while. After the shield is down, go all-out with your attacks against Satanail, using Chain Combos and individual buff skills like Berserk, Focus, and Mindflare. Use Rush Combos when you can since they'll cut the time to defeat Satanail down dramatically.
- After the fight, watch the ending scenes. If you followed this walkthrough, you should have triggered all the necessary events to watch all the endings in one playthrough - each ending is worth 10G, so if you want the full score, this is what you want.
- Congratulations, you've just completed Star Ocean: The Last Hope!
- NOTE: After you finish watching the credits, you'll be asked to save your cleared data - do so, and you'll be able to load the last gamesave from the Palace of Creation's Audience Chamber. Both rooms are available: the eastern one has a one-way teleporter that places you back on the Calnus. The other contains an optional boss, the Undying Dragon, which unlocks the Cave of the Seven Stars, the first secret dungeon. Enjoy!
