About the Colosseum
Battling in the Colosseum is completely optional in Star Ocean: The Last Hope, however defeating creatures in the arena, can unlock achievements, battle trophies, and give the player access to a special shop where rare and powerful items can by purchased. When entering the Colosseum, players can do battle against their choice of enemies, except for the enemy with the highest rank. Players must defeat lower ranked enemies in order to earn points and right to fight the highest ranked enemy. As the player wins battles, his or her own rank increases as well, meaning if the player chooses to enter the colosseum as a different character, he or she may see some of his or her own characters as enemies.
Players can do battle in the Colosseum in three modes. They can choose to fight solo, go in with their entire team, or fight in survival mode. The first two modes function as described above, with the player picking an enemy to battle. Survival mode, has waves of enemies continually onslaughting the player.
Defeating enemies in the Colosseum earns the player a special currency known as Fight Coins. Fight Coins can be used to purchase rare weapons, armor and items in the special Colosseum store.

- Smasing Feet: a copycat of the temple guardian that is resistant to the light element and fires homing projectiles
- Crusher Ape: vulnerable to blindside attacks, but has a devastating ice attack that can freeze the player
- Great Solar Phoenix: resistant to light and fire elements. Blindside attacks work best, but try not to let it enter Rush mode
- Lord of the Dragons: has massive defensive skills and a large number of hit points. Landing a blindside attack will cause the most damage
- Le Pierrot Assassinant: a team of clowns that can take out characters in one hit. Reimi is the only character who can effectively attack this enemy.
- Symbol Liberation Front: a team of wizards that can rejuvenate their health. Use a team of Bacchus, Reime, Lymle and Sarah and have them attack full force
- Beetlemania: swarm of insects that can paralyze the character. Equip an anti-paralysis amulet to avoid this. The insects can also continually heal, so cast silence to keep from doing so.
- Wandering Swordsman: does not use any symbols, but is lethal if he gets close to the character. Attack from a distance to keep from getting taken out in a single hit.
