Many fans wanted to know if there was a possibility the original Star Ocean games might be remade for current generation platforms, however the developers didn't seem to be too keen on this idea, saying that instead of remaking an old game, they'd much prefer to make an entirely new game.

Producer Yoshinori Yamagishi said, "If we were to make parts 1 and 2 again for current generation platforms like Xbox 360, we'd have to completely remake them. As for part 3, it took up that much space on the PS2, so for this generation, it might take up around five discs. If we were to remake those games and release them for the current generation, I'd rather make a new entry."

Others wanted to know about the possibility of downloadable content for the game in the future. The developers said they never intended there to be any additional content besides what is released in the retail version of the game. However, they did mention that it's something publisher Square-Enix is interested in.

Besides these two issues, the developers also hinted at the possibility of releasing a director's cut version of the game in the future, but said nothing has been confirmed as of yet.IGN: Star Ocean Producers Talk Sequels, Remakes and Download Content
