  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope is the fourth installment of the Star Ocean series. The game is an Xbox 360-exclusive RPG from Square-Enix.

  • Storyline

    Star Ocean: The Last Hope takes place in a fictional version of the future. In the year 2064, Earth was on the brink of destruction due to an ongoing conflict between a global power known as the World Republic Federation and the nations who opposed it. This conflict escalated into World War III, where weapons of mass destruction were deployed and the entire world's ecosystem was placed in jeopardy.

    The two sides of the battle negotiated a cease-fire, but it was too late. Much of the world's population died off, and those who survived retreated to underground cities away from the deteriorating environment.

    Eventually, the nations banded together in a unifying cause: to find another planet suitable for life. The game starts in the year 2087, when humanity's search for a new home has just begun.Official Site: Star Ocean: The Last Hope

  • Gameplay

    Star Ocean: The Last Hope is a real-time RPG with gameplay mechanics similar to previous Star Ocean titles. While exploring the world, the player will be able to see enemies on the screen, but the battles themselves happen in a separate environment. Throughout the game, the player will build his or her party to eight members, each with unique skills and abilities, but only four characters can be brought into battle at any one time.

    New features in this latest installment, include a jump ability that enables the player to dodge attacks and launch aerial assaults as well as the Rush Gauge, which enable players to make pre-emptive strikes against enemies.

    The main story gameplay is said to last approximately 40 hours, but there are a number of side quests and collection missions to be played as well.IGN: Star Ocean: The Last Hope Video Preview
