Stan Sakai is a Japanese-American comic book artist and writer.
Career
Stan Sakai studied art at both the University of Hawaii and Pasadena's Art Center College of Design. In 1984, he created the character and comic book series Usagi Yojimbo.
The series, which uses anthropomorphic animals, features a ronin rabbit that fought during Japan's Edo Period.
Sakai's intertwining of Japanese culture and history with Usagi Yojimbo storylines earned him numerous awards. In 1990, the series was awarded the Parents' Choice "Seal of Approval."UsagiYojimbo.com: Stan Sakai Awards
Sakai continues to produce issues of Usagi, which has remained in print since its debut.
