St. Vincent is the stage name of Chicago-based singer-songwriter Annie Clark. She released her debut album, Marry Me, in July of 2007.

Background
After graduating the Berklee College of Music, Clark toured as part of Sufjan Stevens' band in 2006. That year, she released an EP of her own music, including the song "Paris is Burning," that would appear on Marry Me, and a cover of the Nico song "These Days."
She then became a guitar player as part of the rock collective The Polyphonic Spree, and plays on the band's 2007 album, The Fragile Army. Marry Me includes a number of members of Polyphonic Spree, including drummer Brian Teasley and horn player Louis Schwadron.
