St. Patrick's Day Traditions
One of the most popular traditions in the United States occurs every year in Chicago. In 1962, the tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green for St. Patrick's Day began when sanitation workers used the dye to trace illegal sewage dumping back to its source. Every year they dump forty pounds of green vegetable dye into the river, enough to keep the river green for a week!Religion Facts: St. Patrick's DayEvery year in Dublin, there is an annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the streets are filled with merriment in celebration of the holiday.
