Early in 1995, long-time owner Georgia Frontiere allowed the team to be moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Five years later, in 2000, the Rams won their first Super Bowl (Super Bowl XXXIV) on the shoulders of quarterback Kurt Warner and the team's high-powered offense. The Rams also made it to Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, but lost to heavy underdogs the New England Patriots, kickstarting a Pats dynasty.
Everything St. Louis Rams
Cleveland Rams
The team originally formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1936 as the second team to join the American Football League. The following season, team founder Homer Marshman was approached to join the NFL. Marshman paid the entry fee and initially brought over just four players to start his new NFL franchise.
In 1945, multi-positional player Bob Waterfield joined the Rams, leading them to the NFL championship game. The Rams defeated the Washington Redskins 15-14 to win the title.
Los Angeles Rams
Following the 1945 championship, the team relocated to Los Angeles. This was also the same year that the league became racially integrated. The Rams signed the first two African-Americans ever to play in the NFL, Kenny Washington and Woody Strode. The franchise went on to win another NFL championship in 1951, defeating the Cleveland Browns.
Los Angeles Rams in Anaheim
Following a Super Bowl loss in early 1980, the team moved to Anaheim, California, but did not change its name. The Rams continued to play in Anaheim for the next 15 seasons.
