  • Brief History

St. Kitts and Nevis is the smallest nation in the Americas in terms of both size and population. Both islands are among the earliest colonized locations in the New World. The British controlled the islands beginning in the early 17th century and, along with the island of Anguilla, united the islands as a single colony. The islands did not become independent until 1983, making it the youngest nation in the Americas.
