Spritz Cookies

Spritz cookies are treats formed by using a cookie press or squeezed through a pastry bag before baking. The spritz cookies are most popular during the Christmas holiday season, but not limited to this time.

You could also have them for any occasion, just make sure to get the correct color, to make them most festive and fun! Red and Green are the most common festive Christmas season colors.

Soft pastel colors( like pink, yellow, and light green) are the traditional, Easter and spring time colors.The same pastel colors can also be used to make baby shower cookies.

Fall colors are red brown and gold, or you could use those colors to make Halloween spritz cookies. The same color theme would work very well with Thanksgiving themed cookies.

Simple but Delicious

The basic ingredients for spritz cookies are the basics of most cookies. The only difference is that you can add all types of flavoring to the cookie mix to make it special. Lemon and lemon zest and confectioners sugar are just two of the special ingredients that add a little something to the spritz cookie.

There are sprinkles that can be placed on the cookie once it has been pressed out onto the cookie sheet and before it bakes to melt the toppings into the cookie for a different look and texture.

There are many cookie styles that are spritz cookies and some of their names tell exactly what the main ingredient is like in the Chocolate Spritz Cookies for example, the cookie is chocolate and is made like a traditional chocolate cookie.

The Snow Flake Spritz cookies. These cookies are made wit cream cheese vanilla and white sugar, for a whiter cookie.

The almond ring cookie has almonds and lemon zest combined to make a special taste for the holiday.

The cookies will bake in a 350 degree oven and once they come out of the oven they will cool on a cooling rack. These recipes can be made in advance and kept in a cookie tin.
