• There has been talk about [[EA using SecuROM in their 2008 simulation video game Spore. SecuROM is an online DRM (digital rights management) system that requires players to authenticate their copy of the game online every ten days. Some fans were upset that this was going to be part of the game, and EA responded by tweaking the DRM a little bit. Now, instead of logging in every ten days to authenticate, customers will only need to authenticate when they go online to get new content, or when they install the game for the first time. Also, customers will only get three installs with the disc they buy, and new installs may be required when new hardware is put in the computer.Kotaku.com: Spore to Use Online Authentication (May 9, 2008)
