• On June 18, 2008, two versions of the Spore Creature Creator utility became available. The first version can be purchased from the official website for $9.95. The second version is a demo that can be downloaded from the official website and is also included in The SimCity Box. The demo contains 25% of the creature parts available in the paid version. The utility is basically a character editor, which allows players to create creatures in a test environment, view creature animations and import creatures created by other players. The created creatures will then help populate the universe of Spore, due to be released on September 7, 2008. Players can also capture images and video of their creatures and upload them directly to YouTube using the utlity's built-in upload interface. In addition, the utility allows players to create avatars, save them as embeddable HTML or RSS code, and use them online. While the Spore Creature Creator is only available on PC and Mac, the final game will be released on Nintendo DS and mobile platforms as well. The game was developed by Maxis, developers of The Sims series of video games.
