Splash

Splash is a romantic fantasy comedy, released in is a 1984, directed my Ron Howard, Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel. Originally considered and adult film, Splash is now deemed a family-friendly movie.

Allen Bauer is rescued by a child mermaid who saves him from drowning at a very early age. Years later Bauer finds himself depressed after a resent breakup and revisits the place where he once saw the mermaid. Filled with depression he jumps into the water, once again being rescued by the beautiful now grown, mermaid.

The mermaid, now smitten with Allen and armed with the ability to sprout legs once her tail dries, goes in search of him by walking the streets of New York City. Once reunited, he names her Madison and learns her ways as she learns his. They soon fall deeply in love and both return to the sea.
