Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer admitted to patronizing the Emperors Club VIP prostitution ring in a press event on March 10, 2008. Spitzer apologized to his family and the public, but at the time did not say whether he would resign in the wake of the scandal. Four operators of the Emperors Club had been arrested the previous week. On Wednesday, March 12, Spitzer announced his resignation.
