Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's alleged involvement with the Emperors Club VIP prostitution ring is detailed in an FBI affidavit. It was made public by The New York Times on March 10, 2008. In the 55-page document, a man referred to as "Client 9" is implicated in a series of wiretaps taking place between February 11 and February 14 of 2008. Documented conversations include scheduling and payment negotiations between Client 9 and the alleged leader of the the Emperors Club, Temeka Rachelle Lewis, as well as conversations about Client 9 between members of the ring. Client 9 is documented as having had a paid liaison with a woman called "Kristen" on the night of February 13 at Washington's Mayflower Hotel. Among the more widely reported details of the affidavit is a quote from Lewis, characterizing Client 9 as someone who, "would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe."
