Spiro Agnew was the 39th Vice-President of the United States. Agnew is known for his quick ascension through the political ranks, going from Baltimore County Executive, to Governor of Maryland, to Richard Nixon's Vice-President in just six years. Agnew had aspiration to become the 40th President, before a tax scandal derailed his political career.

Resignation
On October 10, 1973 Agnew resigned from his office as Vice-President, after pleading no contest to charges of tax evasion and money laundering. As a result of his resignation and the 24th Amendment, House Majority Leader Gerald Ford succeeded Agnew as Vice-President.
