Spinach dip is a mixture of spinach and seasonings in a base of sour cream used to spread on bread, or crackers. Spinach dip is also used as a traditional dip for tortilla chips, or homemade lightly fried Flour Torillas.
The standard recipe is generally very high in calories. However, many cooks have developed lighter versions, and some have even developed variants that use no dairy or mayonnaise. There are also many mass-produced versions that can be purchased at a local grocery store, although, like many other foods, these generally do not score well in taste tests.
Spinach dip can be served hot or cold.
