Along with fellow Brits Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet was one of the more successful bands to emerge from the New Romantic subgenre of New Wave 1980s pop. Their crowning achievement was the smash single "True," which went to No. 1 in their homeland and was also a Top Ten hit in America.
