Space Barely, produced by Japan's Sapporo Breweries, is the first beer made using ingredients which were grown in outer space. The alcoholic beverage is made with barley which was grown in a Russian laboratory on the International Space Station. The production of Space Barley was the result of collaboration between the Russian Academy of Science, Okayama University in Japan and Sapporo. The initial brewing produced only 100 litres of the 5.5% alcohol beverage.
