The South Park mid-season finale "Super Fun Time" originally aired on Comedy Central on April 23, 2008. When a school field trip to a living museum on pioneer history proves to be less than exciting, Cartman and Butters sneak away to a nearby amusement park. As the boys entertain themselves at the park, their classmates are held hostage in the Pioneer Village by a group of trigger-happy thieves.

South Park "Super Fun Time" Episode Summary
- South Park Elementary School visits Pioneer Village, an education recreation of what South Park was like in the 19th century. The boys immediately think the field trip is boring. Mr. Garrison instructs all the students to choose partners.
- Cartman looks for a partner, and the only person left is Butters. Mr. Garrison forces them to hold hands. The people at Pioneer Village are consistent in keeping up with their act, though the students don't find it amusing.
- Cartman looks through a hole in the wall and spots "Super Phun Thyme," a theme park. Cartman gets very excited and forces Butters to leave with him to explore Super Phun Thyme.
- As Stan, Wendy, Kyle and Wendy are visiting the "gunsmith", a large truck pulls up, and men and women with guns force everyone on to the ground.
- The boys ask the Pioneer Paul for a phone, but the workers refuse to give up their act, saying they've never heard of a phone.
- At Super Phun Thyme, Cartman tries to get Butters to let go of his hand, but he refuses. They both buy tickets and enter.
- Stan, Kyle, Wendy and Jimmy escape with two workers to the administrative building. Kyle dials 911 and reports the terrorists who have taken control of Pioneer Village.
- Cartman is enjoying the rides and arcade games at Super Phun Thyme, though Butters wishes he would decide to go back.
- The leader of the gang reports to the hostages that the cops are on their trail. Police officers surround Pioneer Village. The gang assembles in a house and asks to speak with the chief of police. One member of the gang is seriously wounded. The police reveal that the gang robbed a Burger King.
- The four kids who have not been held hostage continue to ask the Pioneer Village workers to break the act. They ask for rifles and the workers agree to go get some from the Sherriff's office.
- On the way back, Cartman and Butters spot the police barrier. Cartman assumes the police are there for him and Butters. They decide to try and sneak back inside without the cops seeing them. Butters still refuses to let go of Cartman's hand.
- The thieves are very well-coordinated with money and technology for Burger King robbers. The robbers decide to sneak into a mine shaft and dig a tunnel to escape. The ring leader demands to know the door code for the mine shaft. The blacksmith refuses to break character. The leader demands to know the code in a scene that resembles the death of Takagi in Die Hard. Franz, the ring leader, kills the blacksmith.
- One of the workers is about to reveal the code, but Pioneer Paul shoots him to prevent him from breaking character.
- Cartman and Butters attempt to jump from a street light onto a tree branch and into the compound. Cartman and Butters nearly fall and are stuck on the street light.
- "Murderin' Murphy" is released from the fake jail but refuses to break character. Franz says he will kill Kenny unless someone gives him the door code.
- As he is stuck on the street light, Butters laments his failure to do what he was told. Cartman and Butters manage to jump onto a moving bus and then into the compound.
- Stan leaves the safety of his hideout and presents himself as a member of Pioneer Village. He speaks in a way that allows the workers to reveal the code number as 1864.
- Cartman and Butters walk around loudly in the compound as if they have been there all the time. A terrorist points a gun at them and asks them to put their hands around their heads. Butters refuses to let go of Cartman's hand. They run away as the terrorist fires at them.
- Stan tells "Murderin' Murphy" that Franz killed his pa, which allows Murphy to attack Franz. The police raid the village and kill several terrorists. Franz is about to escape when the police capture him.
- Someone announces over the loudspeaker that their shift is over, at which point they all break character immediately and go to T.G.I.Friday's to get some jalapeno poppers.
- On his way into the police car, Franz laments that he learned much at Pioneer Village.
- Butters drags Cartman back onto the bus. Both of them bleed profusely.
