South by Southwest Web Awards

  • Each year during the South By Southwest Interactive festival, awards are presented in various categories to the best websites of the previous year. The 2009 awards, presented by Adobe, were given out in a ceremony at the Hilton in Downtown Austin on March 15 at 7:00 pm. The emcee was comic Baratunde Thurston, a writer for The Onion.

    Literary game site We Tell Stories, a project made in conjunction with Penguin Books, won in the Experimental category and also took the title of Best in Show. Other winners included the iPhone application Gigotron, streaming video site Hulu, the blog The Bygone Bureau and the photo sharing community Flickr.
