Soulja Boy is a 16-year-old rapper whose first single inspired a slew fan created remixes, mash-ups, parodies and even its own dance routine. Crank Dat was released initially through online profiles on MySpace and YouTube, which garnered him a lot of attention from a grassroots fan base - his MySpace page broke the site's records and generated millions of views. His popularity online caught the attention of Interscope Records who eventually released his first major label album, Souljaboytellem.com.

July 28, 1990: DeAndre Ramone Way is born in Chicago, Illinois.
1996: Moves to Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 6 where he discovers rap music.
2004: Moves to Batesville, Mississippi at the age of 14.
2004: Returns to Atlanta and meets manager Derrick Crooms. Starts his own label called his Stacks on Deck Entertainment.
