Many characters can be obtained by purchasing them for 4000 gold each in Character Creation Mode, but there are others, such as Shura, Angol Fear and Ashlotte, that must be defeated in the Story Mode before they will appear in the character selection screen. Owners of the Xbox 360 version can unlock various special items and weapons in the Create-A-Soul Mode by gaining additional achievements. For every five achievements that a player earns, he or she will be awarded with a new set of equipment. The maximum amount is thirty. Algol: Complete the Story Mode with a character that fights Algol as the final Boss (Mitsurugi, Taki, etc...)

Amy: Purchase her in the Character Creation. Cost: 4,000 gold.

Angol Fear: Defeat Angol Fear in Story Mode with Algol, Kilik, Scheherazade, The Apprentice, or Zasalamel.

Ashlotte: Defeat Ashlotte in Story Mode with Angol Fear, Astaroth, Lizardman, Maxi, Rock, or Talim.

Cervantes: Purchase him in the Character Creation. Cost: 4,000 gold.

Shura: Defeat Shura in Story Mode with Cervantes, Rapahel, Setsuka, or Taki.

Advanced equipment: Successfully accomplish 20 achievements.

All weapons: Successfully complete the Story Mode with any character to unlock all his or her weapons.

Animal head equipment: Successfully accomplish 25 achievements.

Basic equipment: Successfully accomplish 5 achievements.

Intermediate equipment: Successfully accomplish 15 achievements.

Leviathan and Voodoo equipment: Successfully accomplish 30 achievements.

Extra equipment: Successfully accomplish 10 achievements.
