Sonia Gandhi

Sonia Gandhi is a member of the Indian Parliament, and the president of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party. She is the widow of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1991. Despite the fact that she is not of Indian descent, she is an active participant in Indian politics.

Sonia Gandhi didn't enter Indian politics until late in life. Rajiv was subsequently elected Prime Minister, at which point Sonia could not avoid the political spotlight.

Sonia Gandhi's critics often argue that she has no place in Indian politics because she was born in Italy and raised outside of India.
