Sonia Gandhi is a member of the Indian Parliament, and the president of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party. She is the widow of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1991. Despite the fact that she is not of Indian descent, she is an active participant in Indian politics.

Non-Native Criticism
Sonia Gandhi's critics often argue that she has no place in Indian politics because she was born in Italy and raised outside of India.
