Gameplay

Sniper mixes stealth and evasion with head-on, guns-blazing firefights, sometimes within the same mission. Players control several different characters, each with his own specialties. Depending on the demands of the mission, a sniper may sneak undetected through a hostile village in order to lay the groundwork for its decimation by machine gunners minutes later.

Tutorial: Training Ground

In this short tutorial mission, you'll help instruct some new recruits in the ways of the sniper. This mission is optional; you can skip it if you'd like. Most of the controls for this game are standard first-person shooter mechanics, though there are a few variations, particularly in the realm of sniping, that you may want to get acquainted with.

Just follow the on-screen instructions from the drill sergeant to show the recruits how it's done. Get used to the way your breathing and positioning can effect the trajectory of a bullet fired from a sniper rifle. Also, note that you can use short bursts of concentration to compensate for these conditions. Lob a few grenades, then hide from the hopeless rookies, to end the tutorial.

Mission 1: One Shot, One Kill

Your mission: assassinate the leader of the evil regime. He's at a meeting in a fortified base deep in the jungle; you'll need to sneak up to a vantage point overlooking the base in order to get a clear shot. For the first part of the mission, you'll have a spotter to guide you, and to alert you to enemies in your path. After he loses sight of you, you'll be on your own.

First, sneak through the ruins. There are some guards patrolling the early sections, and your spotter will point them out to you as you near them. Take them out, and keep moving forward. Stay crouched or prone as you move, to be sure enemies don't spot you. More enemies will come running if alerted to your presence, so keep in cover whenever possible. Follow the waypoints forward through the ruins. After your spotter loses sight of you, redouble your caution; there are still enemies ahead, and now you won't be alerted to their presence. You'll have to spot them on your own.

When prompted to use your rope, first make sure the area is clear of enemies; there may be one on the path just ahead. Then get out your rope, and follow the instructions. This takes a little getting used to. You don't want to climb up all the way to where your rope is tethered, although the game doesn't bother to tell you this. You just need to climb over the obstruction in your path, then drop down once you've reached the other side. From here, it's a short, safe journey to meet up with your buddy at the sniping position.

After scanning the base below, listen as your friend radios HQ. Try to spot as many enemies as you can during this short interval. You can pick them off now, reducing the number you'll have to get through in a few minutes, but be sure not to miss; if you do, an alarm will sound, and you'll have to start again from the last checkpoint. Make sure you know the position of the target, as well; you'll have to take a shot at him very shortly. He's in the low yellow building in the center of the compound.

When you get the go-ahead, take your shot. though it looks good, it turns out not to be, and the target bolts. Before pursuing him, you need to at least thin out the guards on the ground, or they'll cut you to ribbons. Use your radar to estimate their positions. Eliminate enemies until you can stand out on the ledge without drawing heavy fire, then use your rope on the overhanging tree, and repel down to the ground. Make your way through the base, taking out any enemies you see, and crawling to get under low-hanging obstructions. Follow the fleeing general to the docks, and watch as he makes his escape.

Mission 2: No Man Left Behind

One of the squad was taken when the general escaped in the last mission, and your next few assignments will be concerned with getting him back. First, you and O'Neill are sent in after him. You'll come across an enemy base almost immediately; snipe every single enemy you see, and be ready for more to appear as the battle rages. There's another base, further to the left, from which the main base will receive reinforcements. By moving to the right, you can get a good view of this second base, and head off the enemies there before they can move to their comrades' aid. Take out every enemy you can see at both of these bases.

The rescue plan changes radically when O'Neill is wounded, and must be evacuated. You're on your own from here on out, and how you handle the rest of the mission is at your discretion. You'll want to use as much stealth as possible, since enemies will spawn in infinitely if an alarm is sounded. Stick to cover whenever you can, and if you decide to drop an enemy, make sure to take out everyone in the area, so that no one is left to sound the alarm. However, if you're discovered, you can still try to run for it. Your goal is a truck, and you just need to make it there in order to finish the mission. So if you're fairly close to your goal, and someone sees you, try to run for it. Drop anyone in your path, and get to the truck to finish the mission.

Mission 3: Dangerous Grounds

Here you'll need to be even more stealthy than in the last mission. You need to sneak through a village, and find the enemy base. Remember, if you drop one enemy, you need to take out everyone else in the area, or you'll fail the mission. Stick to cover, and take down any enemies you can't bypass. It's usually best to take out enemies, as long as you can do so without triggering an alarm. Enemies circle the area, and sometimes they display superhuman eyesight. Therefore, the best defense is often a good offense.

After the cutscene, once you're in the area with the radio antennae, the enemy patrols are thick, and almost all-seeing. There's one coming from the left almost immediately, and one to the right as well, moving around the base of the nearest antenna. Your goal is the path leading up the hill ahead, and the lighthouse beyond. Sneak and snipe your way as long as you can. If you're spotted, it's worth trying to run for it up the path, and then up through the lighthouse. Watch for enemies inside the lighthouse, and make it to the top.

From your perch atop the lighthouse, you'll need to first identify, then eliminate, two enemy snipers. One is in the church on the left, the other on top of the tower on the right. Don't shoot them right away; just hold your sights on them until you comment on the fact that you see them. Then wait for the friendly jets to do their flyover, and snipe each target under the cover of the jets' noise. The jets will appear multiple times, so you don't need to rush both snipes into one short flyover. Take your time, and eliminate both snipers.

Once your allies show up below, and run into a third enemy sniper, take him out to clear their path. He's on top of the cliff, on your right. You have a pretty short time limit here, so find and drop him quickly. You don't need to wait, since the assault has already begun, and stealth is off the table. Just drop the enemy sniper as fast as you can to finish the mission.

Mission 4: Take Down the Rigs

During the assault on the oil rigs, you'll be freed from the constraints of stealth, and able to run and gun instead. Still, you'll need to stay under cover whenever you can, and let your two allies do some of the work. The enemies here, as in much of the game, are both deadly accurate and difficult to see until they're actually shooting you (and, often, even while they're doing so). Make sure to take advantage of the health packs on many of the walls of the small buildings on the rigs. Use your own, then grab a fresh one, whenever you find them. There are also several secrets, inside the small buildings. Search for them if you're interested.

Otherwise, this mission is just a matter of following waypoints and gunning down enemies (and, of course, staying alive). The only wrinkle is that you'll sometimes have to take position outside a door, then use the automatic time slowdown to clear the room. Make your way across the first rig, then the second, clearing out every enemy in your path. You need to eliminate all resistance on this second rig; this shouldn't be too tough, since all your enemies will make their presence known (by unloading clip after clip into you). Clear them all out (don't forget about your grenades, which can be useful here). Reach the diving gear on the lower level of the second rig to wrap up the mission.

Mission 5: An Alliance to Save Rodriguez

This mission forces you to switch back and forth between two different characters, and, consequently, between their two very different approaches to combat. The first segment features the guy from the last mission, who likes to blast his way through the squads and squads of enemies trying to stop him. You'll have to clear out the mansions ahead, which are swarming with enemies. Use cover (though you'll still most likely take damage, somehow). Look for health packs as you move forward; chances are you'll need them. Take your time picking off the many enemies here, and move to the break in the fence to trigger a cut-scene.

As the sniper, it's time to pick off enemies from afar. When the trucks carrying the enemies appear on the road below, get ready to fire. Start sniping the enemies as soon as they emerge. Don't worry about their ever-replenishing numbers; you just have to take out a certain amount of them in order to move on. Watch your health; if you start taking too much damage, withdraw. There's no time limit here, so you can take your time. Eliminate enough enemies, and you'll once again switch characters.

Move forward, eliminating enemies as you go. The ruins of the long building are swarming with them. When you reach your destination, you'll have to take up position outside the door, then storm the room beyond, using slow-motion to line up your shots. The guy you're trying to rescue is in this room; you want to shoot the enemy soldier on the left, not the handcuffed friendly on the right. Once you've saved your ally, you'll switch characters one more time.

As the sniper, you need to traverse the same terrain earlier cleared out by your buddy (you). You have tons of enemies in pursuit, and there are more ahead. Staying and fighting won't get you anywhere, since the enemies will just keep coming. You need to run for it. Only engage enemies when necessary, as when they pop up directly in your path. Otherwise, use health packs to keep yourself alive whenever you can, and just keep moving. Reach your destination to escape the enemy base, and finish the mission.

Mission 6: Weaken the Regime

While riding toward the enemy base on the raft, you'll only be able to shoot and look around, not change position or take cover. Therefore you'll want to drop the enemies lining both sides of the river as fast as you can. Slow down time whenever it's helpful, and take out all the enemies, so you're not taking damage from behind as you move slowly up the river.

When you reach the base, eliminate all opposition, then head inland. You need to retrieve some secret plans from a base further from the river. You'll be split up from your allies, and forced to go it alone. Watch for enemies just past the bridge, including a machine gun turret. Take out everything in your path, and make your way forward. Follow the waypoint to find the secret info, then take it back across the bridge and return to the raft.

Now you'll have to head to two enemy drug plantations, and destroy them. You need to place three explosive charges at the first plantation, and two at the second. Naturally, there are enemies throughout the area. Sneak and/or shoot your way forward, and plant all the necessary charges to eliminate a major source of your enemies' funding.

Finally, you'll need to snipe down on a large group of enemies, in order to protect your allies. This shouldn't be too much trouble. Remember to use slow motion frequently, and withdraw behind cover if you need to regenerate health. Finish off the enemies below to finish the mission.

Mission 7: On Your Own

Tasked with destroying three anti-aircraft guns before being extracted, you'll have to use a generous dose of stealth, and some accurate sniping. First, you'll need to sneak down the path, and take out two enemies on an outcropping on the left, around a bend. You should hear them talking before they're in sight, but start moving slowly and carefully as soon as your contact signs off. From the position formerly occupied by the two guards, snipe down on the patrol below. There's a group coming up the road from the left; make sure you take them out too. Eliminate everyone you can see, then move down the remainder of the path (or just drop down from the platform), and move up the road. Be careful of more enemies ahead.

When you come to the ruins, move around the hill they sit on until you come to an entrance. Move in carefully, dropping any enemies you encounter. There's one near the waypoint, to the left. After examining the AA gun, turn around and move up the stairs on the other side of the ruins. Take out the enemies in the village far below; you'll have to move quickly to save the hostages. Then leave the ruins, and proceed toward the next waypoint.

Cross the bridge (taking out any patrols along the way), and follow the waypoint to the cache of explosives. There's also an alternate sniper rifle in here. The next three objectives--destroying each AA gun--can be done in any order, though the quickest way is as follows: first, return to the ruins, and destroy the first gun you found. Left Trigger drops a charge, Right Trigger detonates it. You'll want to be well clear of the area before setting off the explosives. The next two AA guns will appear in turn as you move forward. Be careful; enemies are fairly active in their patrols of this area.

After all three guns are down, head across the stream and up the path. You may need to do more sniping/sneaking/running for your life, in order to reach the checkpoint that ends the mission.

Mission 8: A Simple Rendezvous

This mission has the potential to be fairly short, or very, very long, depending on how you play it. Your first goal is to sneak into an enemy village and use the radio there to call for your getaway helicopter. Move up the path, taking out the patrols in front of you. As you near the village, you'll get a jarring, forced look at an enemy in a guard tower on the right, and two more, on the ground, leading two women into a building on the left. First snipe the guard in the tower, then move toward the building. One guard will be stationed just inside the doorway; take him out, then move carefully inside. The other enemy is busy terrorizing the two women; his back will remain turned to you, and you'll have a pretty much point-blank shot at him. Just make sure you drop him. Then head out of the building the way you came in.

From here, you'll have to be sneaky. There are too many guards in the village to allow you to take them all out without sounding an alarm. Pay attention to their movements, and only move yourself when they're looking away. Make your way to the shack with the radio in it. If you trigger an alarm near the radio room, don't worry; the alarm will sound as soon as you use the radio no matter what. From here, the base will flood with enemies, and you'll have to make your way up the hill amidst a hail of their gunfire.

At the top of the hill is a sandbagged turret. At this point, the game will instruct you to defend yourself, obviously wanting you to use the turret. You can if you like, but expect to get ripped apart in no time by the enemies below, who appear in infinite waves, sometimes very close to you, on either flank. No matter how fast or accurate you are with the turret, you'll take major damage in seconds, even if you don't actually die. You need to hold out for two minutes, until the chopper arrives. In this case, the best defense is not a good offense, but simply lying quietly on your belly behind the line of sandbags. You'll take no damage, and be ready for the mad dash toward the helicopter that will commence as soon as the timer ticks down to zero. When that happens, sprint toward the next waypoint, and use health packs as necessary. Stopping for even an instant here is an invitation to the enemies to rip you to shreds. Make it far enough in the direction of the evacuation point, and you'll complete the mission.

Mission 9: Steal From Under Their Noses

You'll have to sneak into a hostile encampment and gather some valuable intel. Luckily, your spotter is pretty good at alerting you to enemies ahead. You just need to make sure you remain unseen, and drop any enemies you decide to take out with one shot. There are several patrols ahead, mostly clustered around the rickety rope bridges you must cross. Eliminate all of these guys. When they're in groups, take out all the members of the patrol as quickly as possible. When you come to the ricketiest of all the bridges--you'll hear yourself comment on it--watch for the gaps. Jump over the holes in the bridge, and cross the partial gaps by the boards on the sides.

When you come to the guard tower, eliminate the guy in it, then commandeer his position, and use it to snipe the many enemies in the village below. Stay low as much as possible, and use the breaks in the walls to fire through. Make sure to take out every enemy you can see before climbing down and moving on.

Sneak through the village; there may be a guard or two left alive that you couldn't see earlier (and who somehow missed his whole squad's heads exploding). Finish off any stragglers, then follow the waypoint to the building where the intel is stored. After finding it, an alarm will sound--there's nothing you can do about this--and you'll have to make another of your patented mad dashes. From the river, it's possible to see two guards running across the rope bridge overhead. Shoot them, or not; you don't have to. Climb up to the bridge and get across to reconnect with your spotter and end the mission.

Mission 10: The End is Near...

After being saved by the guerrilla leader (whose bullets arrive at their destinations at least a second after the sound of their being fired), you need to assist his forces in clearing out the enemy base ahead and running to ground your traitorous former ally. First, turn around, and snipe the two guards in the towers at the entrance to the base. Then move forward. You'll want to start sneaking pretty soon, since the base is just ahead.

There are a lot of enemies in the base, too many to take out without triggering an alarm, which will end the mission immediately. You'll have to avoid these guys for now (don't worry, you'll get a crack at them later). The nearest guard, leaning up against the pole near the tent on the right, will see you if you try to sneak past while he's looking in your direction. Time his pattern of looking off to the right, and move (crouched) when he starts his routine. Use the vehicles and tent as cover, and move on. When you come to the second tent, sneak through it on your belly. Outside, move around behind it, then turn and look back toward the camp. The guards that are visible from here will spot you as you move up the road, unless you wait for them to turn away. When you get your chance, crouch-walk up the road toward the waypoint.

Sneak/snipe your way into the grounds of the old mansion. There are several guards in here, but they're isolated, so you should be able to pick them off if you're careful. Move slowly through this section, since at last one guard is patrolling the grounds, and he'll appear at some point. You should be able to spot his flashlight beam, but don't count on it; actively search for him as you go. There's also a stationary guard up on the balcony. Move through the building on the left, and up the ladder. Move forward, then drop down to the ground on your right. Head toward the waypoint, and be ready to take down at least one more enemy on your way.

After reaching the waypoint, and watching the cutscene that follows (during which, for some reason, you don't bother to shoot your main target), get on the turret on the right, and mow down the enemies below. This is a much more reasonable turret task than the one at the end of Mission 8. Take out all the enemies below, and you'll switch characters.

Controlling El Tejon, storm the base. Stealth is obviously not a factor here; just gun down all the enemies you had to bypass earlier, and move a little ways up the path beyond the village to end the mission.

Mission 11: The Hunt is On

You'll be on a rail for most of this short mission, operating the machine gun as El Tejon drives, in pursuit of the traitor. Gun down enemies on either side of the road. Your first targets will emerge, in an armored vehicle, from the left. You need to not only gun down the two enemies, but also destroy the vehicle, before moving on. From there, gunmen will pop out from the left and right as you speed along. You can't turn the gun on any enemies behind you; you only have a 180-degree range of motion. So try to take out as many enemies as you can while they're still out in front. If any get by, you'll be taking damage, without being able to respond, until they're out of range.

After arriving at your sniping spot, find the red barrels with your scope, but don't shoot them right away. Wait until your ally gives you the signal, then shoot the barrels when the enemy vehicle appears on the road. Afterward, you'll have to wipe up a few surviving enemies. Once they're gone, head down to the road. There'll be a few more enemies ahead; take them out as you go, and head to the end of the road to wrap up the mission.

Mission 12: Steal From Under Their Noses Part II

Once again, you'll be tasked with sneaking into an enemy compound, and once again, you'll have the help of a spotter (until you're seen, at which point he'll decide to pack it in; thanks, spotter). It's worthwhile trying to remain unseen, since the spotter's info is often helpful, if occasionally out of date (as when you're alerted to a "tango up ahead" while actually crawling through the splattered brains of said tango).

Your first target is up in a guard tower at the bottom of the hill. Take him out, then sneak into the base under the tower. Sneak through the building up ahead, then into the second. Eliminate the two enemies outside, then climb the ladder, then a few more, moving along the rooftops until you reach the large hole in the roof ahead. Down the enemy inside, then drop down through the hole, and move through the building. Crawl along on your belly when moving past the windows, and drop the enemy in the hallway ahead. Further on, near the back door, take out another.

Move across the yard, ignoring the three-man patrol to the left. Crawl under the pipe, and stop when your spotter tells you to. While he's talking to HQ, take out the enemies up ahead, one on the ground, another in the guard tower. There's a third guard in the area across the street, but he's moving, and may or may not be visible at this point. Keep him in mind, as you'll have to down him at some point in the very near future.

When you get the go-ahead, crawl across the road, then head forward (taking out the guard as soon as he appears). When you come to the patrol up ahead, wait for them to move ahead a bit before continuing, and going through the door on the left. When you hear shots as you move forward, don't worry; you haven't been spotted, you're just near an enemy firing range. When you come out of the building, follow your waypoint ahead. When you near the indicated building, be ready for an enemy to appear suddenly just ahead. Drop him, then head inside and grab your precious intel.

Exit the building and climb the ladder onto the silo. Take out the enemy to the right, then move forward. You'll need to make your way across a long set of pipes. There are enemies on the towers to both sides; take them out if you want. You're close enough to the end that you can dispense with stealth if you want. You just need to reach the end of the pipes, drop down to the rooftops on the right, then leave the camp the same way you came in, under the guard tower. Move up the path to finish the mission.

Mission 13: A Marksman at his Best

In this mission, you'll get the chance to play as the spotter, identifying targets for the sniper to take out. You'll still have to do plenty of sneaking, and some judicious decision making, though. First, you need to get into position. That involves climbing a series of ladders to the rooftop above. There's an enemy at the top; you'll want to drop him as soon as he comes into view, which should be after you climb the second of third ladder. Once you reach your waypoint on the rooftop, look over the edge to where the sniper is waiting to advance. There are two enemies further up the road to the left, both of whom need to go down. Use your binoculars (press Y to switch to them) just like a gun: zoom in with Left Trigger, and mark the targets with Right Trigger. They'll turn green when you've successfully marked them for elimination.

When the sniper starts to advance, move to the left across the rooftops. Watch out for another enemy ahead; switch to your gun to take him out. Then use the line here to zip across to your next position.Down below are three more enemies to mark for your sniper. There's one on the building, and two more below. Make sure these two separate before you eliminate them; one will walk up the road, and screen himself from the other behind a construction vehicle.

Next, you have to take a detour to retrieve some explosives from a boat. There are two enemies guarding the boat, so take them out with your gun before boarding. Grab the explosives, and set the two mines on the dock. Then head up the path, and use your rope to climb up to your next position. The sniper will need some more help identifying the targets ahead of him. Make sure each is out of sight of the others before giving the go ahead. When they're all down, watch the road. Your main target will be driving up it in a bit, coming from the right. He's moving at a pretty good clip, so you'll have to be fast. He's in the second vehicle to appear. Zoom in and quickly mark him so the sniper can take him out.

Now you'll have to make another frantic getaway. Follow the waypoint, quickly dropping any enemies that get in your way. Once the heat is off, get back into sneak mode. Wade up the river on the left of the large patrol on the bridge. Stay as low as you can; you may still be seen, so be ready to run. When you reach the end of the cave further up the path, plant the two explosive charges (by pressing X) on the walls where indicated, and find your sniper to finish the mission.

Mission 14: Guardian Angel

You'll be back in the sniper's personae here, in support of your allies. First, though, you need to get into position, which means scaling the mountain behind you. Hook the tree above and climb up to the ledge, then hook another and climb again. From here, cross the log on the right to a slightly higher ledge, then turn back, cross another log, and hop up onto a large flat stone. From here, you should be able to see another hookable tree, high above. Use it to climb up to the top.

Move through the building, and snipe the two guards outside (you can get them both with one shot if you're feeling lazy). From there, head for the lighthouse. There's a guy inside, on the ground floor, facing away from you. After dropping him, climb to the top of the lighthouse to take up position. Now it's time for some serious sniping. As your pals move up through the enemy base, take out the targets ahead of them. They'll give you cues when you're expected to take out the thugs, but you may have to do some searching before you find your target. When firing on pairs of enemies, be sure to take both out in quick succession (if not with the same shot).

Once your team steals the truck, help them escape by sniping the many groups of enemies along their route. There are some on the roofs, a roadblock on the ground, and more enemies up on the elevated highway. Once the truck is away, it's time to change position. You'll be on the move from here on out, at first via zip line, then running frantically forward. You need to eliminate the various enemy squads up in the hills with you; some are equipped with rockets, which are capable of taking out your friends in one shot, so you need to eliminate them quickly. There are several groups, and not much time, so keep moving. You'll take fire if you're spotted, but this shouldn't concern you too much, as these enemies can't be allowed much time to operate anyway, whether they're firing on you, or the others below.

Keep moving and eliminating enemy squads. When you reach the rope bridge, look down to the road, on the left. There's a large quad down there that needs to be destroyed. After doing so, cross the bridge, and run toward your next destination. Gun down or ignore the enemies in your path. When you reach the bottom of the hill, plant two charges on the pillars supporting the bridge, then climb up the ladder. Get to the truck to end the mission.

Mission 15: The Showdown

You'll want to remain hidden for as long as you can in this mission, since there are lots of enemies anxious to take you out. Crouch right away, and move forward. Ignore the enemies off to your left; there are too many to take out without triggering an alarm. There's a lone guard near the end of the path, and he's fair game. After taking him out, move forward, into the cave. Not far ahead, there'll be at least one, maybe two more enemies. they're partially screened by the cave wall, off to the left, parallel with some tall rocks projecting up from the cave floor ahead. If there's only one guy here, watch for the other to show up pretty soon. Take them both out, then move through the cave. You'll have to take some twists and turns, and eliminate another pair of enemies, before reaching the end of the cave. Just keep bearing roughly toward your waypoint, and you'll find the exit. Drop the guy there, then move outside.

Crawl under the break in the fence on the left, and remain on your belly. Slither down the hill, avoiding the same large group you avoided earlier (their club's called The Easily Ignored Guys). Once you're clear of them, head up the road. Go carefully; there are enemies ahead. Take them out, being sure to eliminate whole groups. You have quite a hike, and there are several lone guards, a few pairs, and one larger group that need to be dealt with. When you finally reach the waypoint, turn right, and climb the hill toward the enemy base. Stealth isn't as big an issue here as it was earlier, as you're about to lose it no matter what you do. If you want to keep sneaking, it's best not to drop any enemies here. If you do, an alarm may very well be triggered. But again, this isn't a big deal. Either way, reach the building where your friends have somehow managed to become trapped. Just touch the building to switch to the more action-oriented member of the squad.

Now it's an all-out firefight. There are plenty of targets in the base for you to gun down. Do so. Move through the base, doing so. Eventually you'll switch back to your sniper, who needs to provide cover for your other personality. Move into position, and fire down on the enemies below. Knock enough of them down, and you'll once again become the other guy. Move toward your waypoint, gunning down the many enemies in your path. Reach the building where the explosives are kept to switch back to the sniper. Now fire down on the many enemies assaulting your friends' position. They'll appear below you, from both left and right, and, later, coming down the ramp of the huge construction vehicle on the right. Take them all down, allowing your squad to finish its mission. Then walk casually away from an explosion in slow motion (the essence of stealth).

Mission 16: Seek and Destroy

Finally, it's time to take out the general you missed the shot on in the first mission. First, sneak through the ruins. You'll have to take out the first enemy you find, on the path just ahead, but after him, you'll want to stick to stealth, at least for the time being. There are just too many enemies in this area; if even one sees you, he'll instantly (telepathically?) raise the alarm, and you'll fail the mission just as fast. Sneak through the first waypoint, and follow the grassy area on the left toward the next. Crouch, but move as fast as you can, bypassing several enemies. Hop over a fallen chunk of wall, and continue on. Watch out for the guard ahead, on the right. He looks like a ripe target, but he's actually a trap. If you down him, the guys you just snuck past will see. Wait for him to turn and walk out of sight before proceeding. A bit further on, crawl along on your belly to prevent them from seeing you as you pass by the low wall.

Past this point, it's OK to start dropping enemies again, as long as no others can see. Luckily, they're mostly alone from here on out. Still, be careful; if they see you before you see them, it's mission over. Climb the sets of stairs, taking out any enemies in your path, to reach the final sniping position. From here, focus on your target, in the building below. Snipe him. That's it. In the words of the game's classic ending sequence, "The End."
