The Fox Terrier is the name that generally refers to two specific breeds of dog, the Smooth Fox Terrier and the Wire Fox Terrier, although other terrier breeds around the world, such as the Rat Terrier or Toy Fox Terrier are also a part of the terrier family.
History
The fox terrier was bred during the late 19th century in England to assist hunters in driving foxes out of their dens. Today they bred as pets and are rarely used for hunting. The Westminster Kennel Club: [1]
