  • Influential, critically praised rock band Slint is frequently identified with the "math rock" movement of the '80s and '90s. The group disbanded in 1991, and then reunited to play live shows in 2005 and again in 2007. It has been suggested, but not confirmed, that a reunited Slint may begin producing new music again.

  • Career Overview

Slint was formed by Brian McMahan, David Pajo, Britt Walford, Todd Brashear and Ethan Buckler in 1986, after the breakup of their former band, Squirrel Bait.

Their first album, Tweez, was produced by the legendary Steve Albini and released by a small, independent label in 1987. They followed this up two years later with the landmark Spiderland on Touch and Go Records, which also re-released Tweez in 1993.

The band broke up in 1994, with its members largely joining other bands, including King Kong, which included several former Slint members. In 2005, the group reunited for the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival in Camber Sands, England, which they also "curated." In 2007, the band played Spiderland and their self-titled EP in their entirety at the Primavera Sound Festival. The performance included a new song, "King's Approach," fueling speculation that a full Slint reunion and new record may be in the works.
