Sleater-Kinney was a political-minded Indie Rock band from Washington State that helped to define and further the Riot Grrrl movement of the late 1990s. As one of the most critically lauded bands of the decade, Sleater-Kinney released seven acclaimed albums during their career.
Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein met while students at Evergreen State College. After recruiting Janet Weiss to play drums in 1996, the trio released their self-titled debut album to critical acclaim. 1997's Dig Me Out became their biggest hit and garnered praise from music critics and fans alike. In 2006, they announced that the band was going on an "Indefinite Hiatus" so that Tucker could spend more time with her newly born child.
