Slaughterhouse-Five is a science fiction novel by Kurt Vonnegut that uses time travel to analyze the human condition.

Plot Synopsis

A disoriented and ill-trained American soldier named Billy Pilgrim is captured by German soldiers during the Battle of the Bulge. Just before his capture, Billy experiences the entirety of his life from start to finish in one fell swoop. Over the course of the book, he travels between periods of his life, unable to control which he lands in. As a result, the novel is structured in small sections, each several paragraphs long that describe various moments of his life.
