  • The Parajet Skycar has been called "world's first bio-fueled flying car" by its British creators. On January 14, 2009, the Skycar, piloted by adventurer Neil Laughton, took off from London on a 3700-mile expedition to Timbuktu, in the western African nation of Mali. The two-seat, modified off-road dune buggy is equipped with a fan motor and a paragliding wing which allows it to become airborne after reaching speeds of 45 miles per hour.Guardian.co.uk: Skycar ready for takeoff from London to Timbuktu CNET News: Photos: From London to Timbuktu--in a flying car (January 13, 2009)

"I just can't wait to see their faces when we fly in and start playing football with them. I don't think they will be able to believe somebody in a flying car has just visited them."—Neil Laughton, pilot of the Parajet Skyca
