  • Skies of Arcadia is a role-playing video game and was originally released for the Dreamcast and then directly ported to the GameCube. There had been plans to also port it to the PlayStation but production for the game was canceled.

  • Story

    Centuries ago the six moons ravaged the world of Arcadia by raining mystical Moon Stones. These Moon Stones created llandforms in the air. You take the role of Vyse, a Sky Pirate of the Blue Rogue clan who steal from the rich and give to the poor. However, Vyse is soon entangled in a race to find the Moon Stones that control powerful Gigas, monsters created by the Elders of enormous size and invulnerability. Your best friend and companion Aika, accompanies you on your adventures.

  • Gameplay

    Like most traditional RPGs this game is turn-based and offers a slew of random battles. These battles occur with alarming frequency, every couple steps or so. There are a couple additions to the game that set it apart from other RPGs. During battle there is the Spirit Bar that measures your party's spirit. You can charge the spirit by either Focusing (thus negating any other action in the turn) or by not using any moves that require spirit. Another difference is that each character can change the element of their main weapon during battle which allows you to give more damage to enemies and learn different spells. Besides elements, you can also change equipment in the middle of battle. Besides regular battles with Vyse, there are also battles between airships. You get a hint of what your opponent will be doing, but you make all your decision at the beginning of the turn. The world is very large and easily covers 40+ hours worth of exploration and battles.
