Background
The Six Flags saga began in 1961 with the first Six Flags Over Texas theme park. The park was conceived and designed by Angus Wynn and centered around the history of the state of Texas, whose lands had been under six different government's flags through it's rich heritage. Based on this heritage, the original park featured six sections themed after the countries that flew flags over Texas.
