Sink

A sink is a bowl shaped basin to capture or direct water towards the drain. A bathroom sink is set at waist level used for washing up, brushing teeth or other human hygiene needs.

A kitchen sink is set slightly higher than a bathroom sink. Kitchen sinks tend to be larger with two basins side by side in a single unit. They are often made of stainless steel. Kitchen sinks are used for washing dishes and general kitchen water needs.

Buying Guide

When buying a kitchen sink look for deeper rather than shallow sinks. Cheap priced sinks maybe as shallow as six inches. You want something eight inches or deeper in order to wash large pots and roasting pans. For bathroom sinks look for a color and shape you love.

There are a variety of materials to choose from. Stainless steel is the most common material for kitchen sinks. It is stain and scratch resistant. Choose 18 gauge thickness for a strong sturdy sink.

One piece sink and counter units provide a sleek sink edge with no hard to clean grooves. These can be made in many materials and colors.

Enameled cast iron are heavy sinks but durable. The finish can be in any color. The enamel may chip.
