  • Simon & Garfunkel were an American Singer-Songwriting duo made up of childhood friends Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. The group rose to fame in 1965 with their hit single "The Sound of Silence". Their music was also featured in the film The Graduate starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. The duo broke up in 1970 due to their deteriorating personal relationship, but have reunited several times since, most recently in 2004. Since the beak-up, Paul Simon has gone on to have a massively successful solo career. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003.

    On February 13, 2009 Simon &Garfunkel performed a surprise reunion concert at the Beacon Theatre in New York. During the encore, the duo performed classics "The Sound of Silence," "The Boxer" and "Old Friends".Billboard: Simon And Garfunkel Reunite In New York (February 14, 2009)
