Silver Jews were an Indie Rock group formed in 1989 by writer/musician David Berman and Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich of Pavement. Berman and Malkmus worked together as guards at an art museum and Nastanovich was a bus driver before they started their careers. Yahoo! Music: Silver Jews Biography by Heather Phares
Most recently, Berman and his wife Cassie were the only two full-time members of the band. They released the full-length album Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea in 2008. Berman announced his retirement from music on Drag City's message board January 22, 2009.
