Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 is a 2001 survival-horror game developed by Konami for the PS2, PC, and Xbox. The game is the second installment in the gruesome Silent Hill series.

Like its predecessor, Silent Hill 2 takes place in the foggy, cursed town of Silent Hill. James, the main protagonist, receives a startling letter from his dead wife, calling him to Silent Hill where they can be reunited. James complies, and upon reaching the town discovers it is completely deserted, and Mary is nowhere to be found. Upon searching deeper in the town, James comes to discover that he is not the only person mysteriously called to Silent Hill: Angela, a flirtatious woman resembling his wife, and Eddie, an unstable man, were also beckoned to the haunted town. As James investigates the town, battling grotesque beasts searching for his wife, he unearths painful memories about the circumstances of her death.

Silent Hill 2 is a survival-horror game, where you navigate a third-person character, fighting off monsters, solving puzzles, gathering items and information. Unlike the Resident Evil games, Silent Hill 2 puts you in the role of a more helpless character. James is not an expert with firearms; nor is he very fast, agile, or strong. Part of the challenge in Silent Hill 2 is surviving with what limited resources you have. James carries a radio with him at all times, which begins to project loud, unsettling static sounds when enemies are near. This helps prepare for combat, as many of the environments are foggy or extremely dark. Throughout the game James will gain stronger weapons to assist him, such as a shotgun, a steel pipe, and a pistol.
