Sigur Ros is an Icelandic rock band whose down tempo music has an ethereal and melancholic vibe. They have sold over 2 million albums worldwide since the band was formed in 1994, and the band achieved international recognition with the release of Ágætis byrjun. In 2007, the band released Heima, a film that followed the band as they went back to Iceland and played a series of concerts and discussed global political events such as global warming.
International Acclaim
Music by Sigur Ros has appeared in numerous venues around the world, for both commercial and non-commercial purposes. The BBC's nature documentary Planet Earth featured music by the band, as did the closing credits of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
