SIG SAUER was known as SIGARMS until October 2007, and was created specifically to import and distribute SIG's specialized, powerful, and accurate firearms to both consumers and government agencies in America.

    1. 1985: Company founded in Tysons Corner, Virginia, under the name SIGARMS, and was the American branch of European firearms manufacturer, SIG
    2. 1987: Moved to Herndon, Virginia
    3. 1990: Moved to Exeter, New Hampshire to accommodate new manufacturing capabilities
    4. 2000: Became a separate entity from parent corporation, although still affiliated
    5. October 1, 2007: Changed name from SIGARMS to SIG SAUER
    6. 2007/2008: Awarded two government contracts, totalling nearly $28 million
