• The Sidekick is a cell phone sold by T-Mobile. It was originally named the Danger Hiptop. The screen of the device flips 180 degrees to open and display a full QWERTY keyboard. Early versions of the Sidekick came with a detachable camera which connected to the headset jack. More recent versions of the Sidekick have an integrated camera. These devices are different than many other types of phones because of its horizontal design.
  • Multimedia Uses

The Sidekick devices support MP3 and WMA audio formats with a fully integrated music player.
  • Use by Deaf

The Sidekick became popular by the deaf and hard of hearing due to the ease of text input and a large display screen. It was able to take the place of TTY machines that are normally used for calls to be made through a relay operator.
