  • Sid and Nancy is a movie based on the drug and sex life of The Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious and his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen. The 1986 film marked one of the early, career-making performances of Gary Oldman, as Vicious, the confirmed drug addict who fatally overdosed on heroin in 1979, after being charged with Spungen's murder. The film is not only a biopic, but a survey of the landscape of early British punk rock, chronicling the rise and fall of the Sex Pistols. Sex Pistols singer John Lydon has criticized the film, saying that he was not consulted for accuracy, and that he believes that the portrayal glorifies Sid's addiction.
