Sia

Sia is an Australian pop singer who was born in Adelaide, South Australia on December 18, 1975 as Sia Kate Isobelle Furler. She is best known for her three solo albums and her work with Zero 7. Zero 7 is a Grammy Award nominated musical duo comprised of Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. There style of music is downtempo.

Sia started her musical career with the acid jazz band, Crisp and released two albums with them before she left the group in 1997 to pursue a solo career. She subsequently released a solo album titled OnlySee. It wasn’t until she moved to the United Kingdom that she had any kind of success. In 2000, she signed with DancePool which is a Sony Music sub-label and released her album Healing is Difficult. Healing is Difficult is an eclectic mix of R&B and jazz music. The single Taken for Granted from this album reached #10 on the UK singles chart the same year as it was released. Sia left Sony Music before releasing a second album with them and signed with Go! Beat Records which is a subsidiary of UMG.

In 2003, Sia released a single titled Don’t Bring Me Down which was the closing music for the French movie 36 Quai des Orfèvres. She released a second album in Australia and Europe in 2004. This album was titled Colour the Small One and was a mixture of downtempo music and acoustic instruments with electronic backing. This album was released in the United States in 2006 and included four bonus tracks.

2005 Sia left Go! Beat Records due to her disappointment in their promotion of her album. Since 2006, Sia has collaborated with the band Zero 7 on their debut album, their second album as well as their third album. She has also done songs with Radio Heads and Katie Noonan.

In 2007 she released a lot of new music including a new album called Lady Croissant.
