Shrimp Cocktail is a tasty seafood Hors D'oeuvres, consisting of chilled cooked and peeled shrimp or prawns, usually draped off the side of a glass and served with cocktail sauce, and a wedge of lemon.
Prawn cocktail was popular in the United Kingdom in the 1960s and is usually served with bread.
Preparing the Shrimp
In a heavy pot add water and salt then bring to a boil. Drop shrimp into the liquid and turn the heat off, occasionally stir the shrimp until they turn pink and start to curl, this should only take two to 3 minutes. Remove from liquid and allow to drain and cool. Remove the peels and de-vein, chill and serve with cocktail sauce.
