A remake of the 1986 comedy/sci-fi film Short Circuit is in the works. Producer David Foster says the movie will be similar to the original, but updated to reflect technological advances in the 20 years since the first film was released.
The Source Material
The original Short Circuit, released in 1986, followed the adventures of a military-built robot named Johnny 5 who develops human characteristics after being hit by a bolt of lightning. The original film starred Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg and Fisher Stevens. A sequel, Short Circuit 2, was released in 1988.
