  • Shonen Knife is an all female Japanese rock band, anchored by the core member Naoko Yamamo on vocals and guitar. The band's music contains the influences of pop-punk, garage rock and 1960s girl-group pop, such as The Ronettes and The Shirelles. Thanks in part to a fan base including admirers in Sonic Youth, Nirvana and Redd Kross, Shonen Knife received its first stateside mainstream radio airplay during the alternative rock movement of the early 1990s. The band, however, had already been active for a decade. Shonen Knife released its 25th anniversary album, Fun! Fun! Fun! on July 6, 2007.
