  • About Drum Horses

A drum horse is a combination of a shire, Clydesdale or gypsy horse. The American Drum Horse Association's purpose for breeding is to develop a new heavy horse who has performance ability, intelligence and a gentle nature. According to the association, there are few mature drum horses available in the U.S. and those that become bred are certified as Foundation Horses. Only those horses that meet the standards can be approved as official drum horses.Avalon Shires: About the Great Shire Horse Breed
