Sherrod Brown

Sherrod Brown is a Democratic Senator for the state of Ohio. Preceeded by Mike DeWine, Brown has held his position in Senate since 2007.

Brown's mother passed away in February 2009, and there were no commercial flights available that would allow him to return to Washington in between the wake Friday night and her funeral Saturday morning, so the White House arranged a government plane to fly him back to vote for the 2009 Stimulus Package.FOX News: Senator Returns From Mother's Memorial to Cast Stimulus Vote (February 13, 2009)

Before his life in politics, Brown was a political science professor at Ohio State University . Brown also served as the Representative for the 13th district in Ohio from 1993 - 2007.

As a member of the Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee, Sherrod Brown has voted for an increase in federal funding for education. In 2007, he was in favor of a bill that would appropriate $10.2 billion to the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and Labor. The bill passed the Senate, but was vetoed by President Bush.
