Sherri Martel was an American professional wrestler and valet, better known by her ring name, "Sensational" Sherri.
Career
After a successful stint in the AWA, Martel debuted in the WWE, still the AWA Women's Champion. In her first WWE match in 1987, she defeated then Women's Champion The Fabulous Moolah for the title, making Martel the first wrestler to simultaneously hold a world title for two major federations.
After the WWE phased out the women's division in the 1990s, Martel managed several top stars like Randy Savage, Ted DiBiase and Shawn Michaels. She was fired from the company after failing a drug test in 1993.
Martel appeared in WCW the next year, managing Ric Flair and later Harlem Heat. After backstage disagreements with Eric Bischoff, she was fired in 1997, and despite occasional appearances on WCW, WWE and TNA programming in subsequent years, Martel preferred to remain on the independent circuit with a lighter workload.
She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
