Sheila E

Sheila E is an American musician and actress who is widely known for her incredible talent playing the drums. She is the daughter of famed percussionist Pete Escovedo and the niece of Alejandro Escovedo, from the punk rock group The Nuns.

Sheila E joined the third season of the reality show Gone Country, and wrote and performed country songs with Taylor Dayne, Micky Dolenz, Justin Guarini and George Clinton. She won the show for writing and performing the song titled "Glorious Train."

Life and Career

She began playing the drums at age 3 and has been playing ever since. She has played with such notables as Alphonso Johnson, George Duke, Lionel Richie and Marvin Gaye, to name a few. She met Prince during the early 80's after he watched her perform with her fathers band. The two eventually joined together during the Purple Rain recording sessions. Today, she is active in many different ventures, including being a business partner of the former The Brides of Funkenstein's Lynn Mabry. Together they formed The Elevate Hope Foundation for abused children.
