    Shawn Dwayne Marion was born in Waukegan, Illinois on May 7, 1978. He attended high School at Clarksville High School in Tennessee, then attended Vincennes University before transfering to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
  • Pro Career

    In 1999, the Phoenix Suns selected Marion with the ninth overall pick in the NBA Draft. He developed into a fan favorite and was named an all-star in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. He was named to the US Olympic Men's basketball team in 2004. In the 2005-2006 season, he led the Suns in blocks, rebounds, steals, minutes, and points scored. But on February 6, 2008, after frustrating contract extension talks and bad blood with Phoenix Suns management, the Suns traded Shawn Marion, along with Marcus Banks to the Miami Heat for All-Star Center Shaquille O'Neal.
